I made the switch about two months ago and went with Specialized Elite shoes (due to available wide sizing) and Look KEO pedals/ cleats. The learning curve was for me very steep and I fell lots. However all the scrapes and road rash has healed and I like to think I'm better for it. Last weekend I rode my hybrid with platform pedals and it just was not the same. I go faster and farther now with clipless than I did with platforms. I'm sure at some point I'll fall again but such is life.

ok, I have to admit I ALMOST fell last night. I was doing intervals, and at the end of my last one, I was so spent, I decided to just stop by a curb and rest a second. I always unclip my right foot for some reason, and I did, but when I went to put it on the curb, I sort of missed. I was a gnats butt away from falling over in the middle of the street lol.

For now at least my clips are set to about the lowest tension possible. I tightened the right one slightly because I could feel my foot moving slightly where the cleat wasn't gripped very hard. The way they are at the moment I can feel the pulling effect as I lift my leg but can also get out easily in just about any which way I want. Not quite sure how they grip when I don't want to come out but release when I do but so far that's the way they are working...

After I'd made an adjustment to the cleat position I took the bike for another quick ride around the block. As I approached a junction and knew I'd probably have to stop I decided to unclip my left foot to get practise working both ways. Unfortunately I'd forgotten just how strong the instinct is to put my right foot down, and of course my right foot wouldn't go down as it was still clipped in. Just as I got to thinking I was about to experience my first fall, so I heard a loud click and my right foot was on the ground - I'd managed to instinctively pull it free and put it down.
