KHS Flite 747

Hey Everyone-

New to the forums here...

Just curious if anyone has made the jump to the new offering from KHS. I am currently on a Soma ES with Zinn's older forks with built wheels (Velocity Deep V).

Any happy campers with the new offering from KHS? In looking at what I would like tweeked on my current setup, this bike has it.

Any feedback or experiences would be great to hear.

Thanks-

John

We have had others come on looking for info on this bike too. However no one seems to post back if they have ever bought one. Not sure if anyone has even seen one.

Googled reviews and can't find any at all. Zinn helped with the design... It's not going to be a production version of a Zinn by any stretch I'm sure... It looks like it was designed for long legged tall men, rather than long torsoed tall men - 200mm cranks, 65cm frame... I couldn't ride it because I'm decidedly short legged and long torsoed at 6'5". I barely have enough stand over room with a 60/61.

Not sure why they're calling it a 65cm. Per the geo page, the seat tube is actually only 568 c-t. However, the top tube is 620 and head tube 248. At 6'4" and reasonable well proportioned it could easily be set up to duplicate the contact points of my 63cm cannondale. Probably the only change I would need to make would be from my currect 140 stem, down to a 120.

I am an owner of a KHS Flite 750 '06 XXL. Bought it used in 2007, and I've ridden it for about 5,000 miles. I'm a very happy camper, the only thing I changed was the wheels. The were of decent quality but I kept getting them out of true (6'2 260lbs). I replaced them with Velocity Deep V's, which you already have anyway. They are very good bikes with excellent prices.

Awesome concept - great way to get a Zinn-esque frame and loooong cranks at a very attractive price point. If it were a little bit bigger, I might bite - would love to try one out but don't think I'll be running across one up here in WI any time soon. For an almost-freakishly-tall rider this would be awesome - alas, I'm a bit over that category.

I just bought a Flite 747 and I really love it.

I am 6'7" @ 235lbs with an inseam of 37". Only hassle is the seat tube is not longer enough for me. I had the seat set way back. On my second ride after hitting a few bumps, my seat kept pivoting up. I had to continually stop and readjust on the side of the road to keep my boys intact :-)

Picked up a Thomson Elite 410mm setback seat post and viola. Problem sovled. My seat is now right in the middle of the bracket and solid as a rock.

The post is also deeper in the tube, well below the joint. The old deat post was at maximum extension and still really not long enough.

Love the 200mm cranks, makes me almost feel like a normal person.

Bang for buck, you can't beat it even with the seatpost swapout.

Thanks for the feedback.

Now, to find one used and at an even more reasonable cost;-)

Interesting...I got one and did the same thing with the seat post...got the Thomson 410...great seat post. I love this bike...it is awesome. It will be tough to go back to my Soma with 175mm cranks. I find that the knee soreness and muscle fatigue are from the effort and so much from the bike setup any more. It's a fantastic bike.

what kind of tire clearance do you have on the KHS?
Does it fit bigger than 28c or not?
