Interesting.
You still owe me lunch.

I had no idea how much I overate until I started tracking it. I also knew I ate the wrong things. It's not just portion control. I'm sure I have been on a diet of 3500-4000 calories per day for a long time. I'm diabetic, so I really watch the "sweets." However, eating hash browns, mashed potatoes, or white rice is that same as eating apple pie. Carbohydrates are the enemy... no matter where you get them. Currently, I am trying to stay below 2200 calories per day intake. The goal is to keep the carbs at less than 100 grams (400 calories.) If I'm consuming carbs, I want them to be from a source that is high in fiber (nuts, fiber one cereal, low glycemic vegetables.) Another daily goal is exercise... burn 1000 calories per day exercising. I'm doing most of it on the treadmill at this time of year. it's between 6 - 6.5 miles per day.

Anyway, I'm down 16 lbs in 5 weeks. Started at 234 lbs and I was at 218 lbs this morning. It's not easy... but it does get easier. It's just work and discipline. I'm stunned at what most people believe is "healthy eating." It's no wonder that we are an obese nation.

Indy, we approach things differently. Nothing wrong with that, you need to let things go and stop the snide remarks.

I have extended my hand to Indy many times to meet but it seems behind the computer screen, a man feels more comfortable. The offer still stands and will stand.

Lunch, yes. Weekends can be tough but we will figure something out.

I think that's true with a lot of us - We eat what we think is "normal" for so long, then it's a real eye-opener when we are put in a position where we need to eat correct amounts. My wife and I have been on WW for 11 months, and if I think back to the amounts of food I used to eat, it's just unbelievable.

Puh-leeze. I have no interest in having lunch with you for several reasons. I do not feel the need to catalogue those reasons. Feel free to speculate all you want if that makes you feel good, but be careful what you say about me on this forum.

I sit in front of my screen, not behind it. Makes for easier reading. And since you brought up the subject of being "behind" the screen, perhaps we should compare our respective BF join dates and number of posts? Miles in the saddle? Breadth of riding experiences? I do what you talk about doing.

I suggest you put Indyfabz on your Ignore list. You will still see if he posts to a thread, but the post will be blocked and you won't have to read it. I've had to do that with several posters here this year, unfortunately. Indyfabz isn't one of them.

Sounds like a craven to me. And I mean that from a farm town kinda way.

Its all semantics.

If you feel the need to compare join dates and post counts, go for it. What I've accomplished in riding for myself, helping others and having fun in the process is something I am proud of. You are more then welcome to compare whatever you would like though it would be a waste of your time and mine to be frank.

Doubt I will be there. They are going back to the Manayunk Brew Pub after last year's monumental disaster that you may have heard about. While the first year or so at the Brew Pub's was decent, the food was not up to snuff the last time we were there (and possibly the year before that), and it was certainly not healthy. There you go. We are back on topic.

I've not belonged to BCP in years, and since I'm not an overweight roadie I'm not one of them. What happened?

They switched venues to the place that used to be NxNW (North by Northwest), in Chestnut Hill. It's now a sort of banquette/art venue that also served an all-you-can-eat buffet brunch to the public on Sunday. The place is vegetarian, but we were told that the meat would be sub-contracted out. Well....The alcohol selection turned out to be poor. They didn't have enough bar tenders working. The food, including the hors d'oeuvre, was brought out way behind schedule. In addition to most things being mostly tasteless, it wasn't an all-you-can eat affair. For the main courses, you walked up and people served very small portions to you. Some of the food was not properly heated. There were only two servers so it took forever to feed everyone. Then they started running out of food. At one point I saw an employee brining mealy looking fish sticks out from the kitchen. It looked like they had raided the frig to find whatever they could. Some people didn't get anything to eat at all. The bar ran out of the semi-drinkable wine it had been serving and replaced it with some swill that tasted like cough syrup spiked with raspy alcohol. Then our esteemed President droned on and on and on and on, seemingly recognizing by name everyone from officers to ride leaders to people who volunteered 1 hr. to hand out pizza slices at the century. (To his credit, he later admitted to doing a poor job of keeping things brief and to the point.) Meanwhile, the temperature is dropping and the snow that had been falling since the start was now sticking to the roads. People, including myself, started leaving for fear of driving through the snow on slick roads. All this for only $30 dollars or so, plus alcohol.

The real "We've been robbed!" moment came when someone pointed out to the listserve that the all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch the place served to the public was only $15.
