Balanced power
Okay, I'm still pretty new to more serious cycling (about 4 months), and learning new stuff all the time, which brings me to a question about something I noticed. While riding the other day I realized that I seem to be doing more work with my right leg. It seems like I was pushing hard with my right leg but the left was just getting the crank around to where I could get a power stroke with the right again. I started making a conscious effort to apply as close to equal force on both sides, not surprisingly my average speed went up and I didn't feel as tired at the top of the hills on my route. Has anyone else noticed this about themselves, and if so does it eventually become natural to balance your power output?

i first noticed it when i started mountain biking. then i always realized i stood up on the pedals on the same side all the time. im a pretty lop sided person anyways so i do my best to stay disciplined and have a proper pedal stroke. makes a world of difference on the road. if i dont ride for a couple weeks my pedal stroke is a mess and im working way harder than necessary for the same amount speed.
so to be more direct with your question. yes, as long as you make the changes to improve.
