I weighed at my most 400 lbs. Got down to 333 after yoyoing between 345-352. Bought my bike in mid April and so far have lost 13 lbs. down to 320!! I've been riding 3 to 5 days a week lately. Very proud but more to lose!!! Gotta get some pics up...hate taking pictures but will post some.

Good progress so far, keep it up. It will take time but pics are so worth it, wish I had taken more. I'd like to see the difference.

Good job, gman!
About 3 years ago, I bought a mountain bike for once a month fitness at a rail-trail near me... rode 20 miles the first day and got ADDICTED. I've never been addicted to anything else like I am with cycling. I lost about 90 pounds in 3-4 months... Got me another MTB and a road bike now
Started out at 300 pounds, now I am at 210 and I want to get to 170, all thanks to wonderful cycling
Keep at it bubba!

Way to go, gman214!
Incidentally, how are you liking the new bike? And, what size & type tires are you running on it at the moment?

pvillemasher - I feel pretty good. Can physically do a lot more. Have more energy throughout the day into the evening. When I go out to eat I ask for booth seating, ! That makes me feel GREAT! Just overall better!

I’m currently running Continental Comfort Contact 700 x 54 (29” x 2.1) street tires on my Trek Wahoo 29er hardtail and I love the ride comfort they provide. They’re just 15 grams heavier per tire than your 900 gram 700 x 47’s Continentals. I inflate them to 70 PSI to reduce rolling resistance and I can really move on them.
My fastest average speed on my Trek 29er with my Continental 700 x 54 street tires is 19.3 MPH over a distance of 6.967 miles traversed in a time of 21:40. Being that my route forces me to negotiate a gauntlet of 25 traffic lights; not bad for a 35 pound hardtail with heavy tires, no lockout feature, and a 58 year old engine.

700 x 47’s are a good choice.

Continental’s website indicated that my Comfort Contact 700 x 54 tires had a max pressure of 58 PSI, but their sidewalls indicated that they have a max pressure of 65 PSI. After inflating them to 70 PSI, I found that they rolled even better than at 65 PSI, so I’ve continued to use 70 PSI ever since.
