Just got this beauty last week.
Added some thick 32c's to this older Nishiki so I can ride the large amount of trials I have close to home.

The only reason I went with 50mm tires on my "Frankenbike" is that streets & sidewalks here resemble the craters of the moon. I have more than one friend who has endoed when their 25mm tires got buried in a crack of the road. I rode recently with friends who both run 37mm tires on their commuter bikes. I brought up the rear on my Townie with the 50mm tires. They ducked & dodged frequently, occasionally having to brake hard to avoid obstacles - I just rode over the potholes & kept on going. My Kona came with knobbies, but it rode too rough. The Continental "Retro Ride" tires seem smoother & more comfortable.

It's an awful picture, but here's my Mercier Nano minivelo. The 60t chainring lets me keep it on the boil pretty good, and it's a great bike for shooting around town, though it is a bit extreme in many ways.

Thanks. It's not a great bike, but it's fun and a real conversation-starter.
Here's my sport-ute, the bike that does the heavy lifting in the stable. I commute, run errands, haul the kids, and day-trip on. It's bristling with mounts for various trailers, and has all the accoutrements for utility work. It rolls, in the summer, on the pictured Velocity Blunt rims which are a massive 24mm bead seat width, and really give 28mm Vittoria Randonneurs, and in the winter, 30mm Kenda Kwick CX tires on WTB Dual-Duty rims. The unusal rack/pannier setup is by Xootr.

Man - I can't believe that youse guys ride road bikes with such narrow tires! With the pavement here, I wouldn't even consider riding narrow tires. I salute you!

I live in a fairly new development that leads directly onto a freshly paved rail-to-trail MUP, I don't worry about it too much.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Several MUP's in my area and just about every street has a bike lane. Not to mention they keep up the roads so well you could almost eat of them!!

Most of my saddle time, hard riding, and racing is done aboard this one, the Breezer Venturi:
19.4bsw rims transform the Schwalbe One 23s into 26mm wide, and they're tubeless, so dealing with Michigan's famously poor roads ain't bad at all; they're amazingly comfy.
