Hey, Johnny Mullet, are you a mechanic by trade? I'm seeing clues.

FWIW i got a rack and panniers and found i hated it more than the backpack/messenger bag. i ended up selling the bike and got a faster/lighter bike (20 lbs vs 30 lbs) and carried stuff on my back. the ventilation is not great, but it's better. i just try not to carry too much stuff and keep it light.

To each their own I guess. I'm so glad to have ditched the backpack and with my style biking (ie I'm out of shape) I couldn't tell they were there even when fully loaded with groceries.

Those are great for picnics and such but they won't fit my laptops, notebooks etc. Do plan on getting one eventually though.

One final question: Does anybody do grocery shopping with their bike? I don't mean a months worth of shopping but just for a few bags worth.
I do All My grocery shopping with My Bike* , I bought nice Pannier bags that pop off easily, I take them into the store and place them first on the belt to the scanner
for the checker to fill them, instead of a store Carry out Bag.

*except when I go with a friend in Their Car.
