I am just starting to ride, but I have picked up a fair amount of items. I have also found a wallet, that had returned, and recieved a nice bottle of wine. Found a money clip with 200 in it (No id or anything to show its owner._) Sockets, screw drivers, dollar here and there. Just found a really used drill at
the parking structure at work. It appears to have been burned up, but it will be good in the recycle bin. Found a little ammo also. Usually do not pick that up, not sure how stable it is.

Yesterday I used a pair of vise grips I found many years ago on the way to work in Indianapolis.

Monday the second thing found was a flotation vest; I left it. First thing was a tangle of bicycles and riders; a group of young folks had passed me on the highway, and from what one of them said later, he looked away and ran into the bike next to him, and then they all went down. Fortunately just some road rash and a bit of that post-crash shock. Of course that was the ONE DAY I didn't have my first aid kit, but one of them had a baggie with bandaids and alcohol wipes.

Yesterday it was one of those folding wire shopping carts, with a mangled wheel; I had once thought about adapting one of those into a lightweight trailer, but they're just too flimsy. I stopped and pushed it off the shoulder. Then there was the skunk; it was way off the shoulder, but the aroma was everywhere.

I was riding in Denver (on vacation) on Tuesday, and within about a mile, I found this knife and this telescoping mirror. I gave the knife to my daughter (who lives there) and kept the mirror. I don't know what I'll do with the mirror, but when I need it, I'll be so proud of myself.

A mirror like that can get you arrested on the subway. Although it's probably easier to conceal than mounting them on your shoes.

That is a nice looking knife, it looks like a few Japanese knives my mother in law uses.

The mirror, it comes in handy here and there.

Speaking of knives, several years ago I found several pairs of scissors at different points of my ride one summer, varying between small and cheap to one that was nice I gave to someone. She said they were professional quality. Weird. Don't think I have seen any since.

What I do when I'm bored is find a song I really like, and start riding to the music. It doesn't have to be a set routine, but turning, speeding up, and slowing down to the music is kind of fun.

You find a song on the ground?

I've found a song in my heart before.

One time I was riding my mountian bike down some dirt single track and it was early in the season. still some snow in areas. I was about to cross a tiny bridge that spanned a tiny creek. and I looked down. There was a very nice air pump for the bike. so I stopped, grabbed it. checked it out. It was working just fine. Still have it now.

Since then, I haven't found anything. mostly because I rarely ride on street. I typically ride on MUP or off road.

nasty

I found a phone once. I called the last number dialed. it was the owners girlfriend. I met her for coffee later that day

Today I saw a wrench in the middle of the street. I didn't stop or anything to try to get it.

Found an iPad this morning, in a purple case. The screen protector did a good job protecting the screen, it is all dinged up from rocks, but the screen seems perfect, no scratches or cracks. But the device is not working. I push the button and it shows garbage. I try to turn it off to turn it on again, nothing happens, it won't turn off. Don't know how to find out who this belongs to. Maybe after the battery runs out and it turns itself off, rebooting by charging will make it work again?

A bunch of expended and unexploded Fortha July ordnance along one of my regular rural cycling routes. Murikans celebrating freedumb by leaving their mess for someone else to clean up. Everything was soggy from overnight rain. I bagged up the expended stuff and kicked the unexploded stuff into a storm drain. Not the best solution but the least bad available option.

I run linux at home, so no iTunes to connect to for trying to restore.

deex 07-25-16 11:46 AM

Sounds like the lcd is cracked.

RubeRad 07-25-16 11:56 AM

I don't think so. It's a pretty clear picture, seems to me more like something in the device is broke and it's sending a bad set of pixels to the screen. Black stripes are crisp 1-pixel lines

RubeRad 07-26-16 09:44 AM

more finds today. I went to check on a yellow plastic cylinder that I thought might be a thermos, but it was just a float lost off a boat. However, nearby in the weeds, I found a pair of slipjoint pliers and some hefty cutters, like tin snips maybe. Only a little banged up, with some surface rust
