FOD. Seeing pennies everywhere. Tails though lol. There's a long nail at the beginning of one of the climbs - I may pick it up tomorrow. Enjoying the bike lane on a climb as the street sweeper made a pass and it's pristine right now.

Several blocks covered with lots of white powder all over the road and the adjacent bike path, absorbent because a street sweeper blew a hydraulic line - NASTY !!

One of my post ride rituals: scan the tires. Found this staple sticking out sideways in the rear and it wouldn't budge with my fingers alone. Spit over the penetration point showed no leak - two days riding after so so far so good.

A few weeks ago I decided to take the long way home from work, out through an area that is mostly corn fields. Found a 12-lb sledge hammer, nice one too! Figured out how to strap it to my rear rack with the handle running under my saddle and hauled that sucker home.

Two finds today. First I stopped to pick up a socket but it was some kind of refrigerant fitting. Next I found an entire weed whacker... the owners were a quarter mile ahead working on the MUP and I suppose it fell off their truck. They came back for it.

What are some of the things you have found while riding?

In the bike lane.

There was a HS ID inside. The School was about a half mi away. Dropped it off at their office. High Schools have changed since the 70s.

You weren't swarmed by the armed school guards were you? That'll ruin your day.

Thankfully no. Of course everybody looked at the old geezer on a bike. Few students, a landscaper. Looked like some kind of athletic practice on the football field.

It was after 5 pm. Had to knock on the office door. Handed the wallet to the young lady who answered.

Bikes: Hi-Ten bike boomers, a Trek Domane and some projects

A whole pizza. My area facebook blast groups are full of reports of undelivered Uber Eats and Door Dash orders.
One of those big sheetrock squares. I had no need for it or means to carry it on a bike.
A pair of young boy's shoes. Later that morning before Sunday school, I heard a mom discussing how her son must have thrown his shoes out the window on the way to church.
My favorite was when I was a teenager and I found a Playboy magazine. I took a break off of a side road to read the articles.

Most of a box of screws. Thankfully I didn't go over any of them before I saw them.

In the past 2 months I have found 2 phones and 2 wallets. One phone was an Iphone 6 and one was an android but I do not remember the brand. One wallet I found just yesterday. The Iphone I still have as it is passcode protected and I keep forgetting to go to an Apple store to see if they can track the owner. The other phone was returned to the women that lost it. The first wallet I was able to contact the person and get it back to them. The one I found yesterday I will put in the mail tomorrow to the owner. I actually found him by a card for his probation officer. I called the officer and they confirmed the address.

Also recently, I have found numerous tools and a saddle bag that was full with a tube, levers and a mini-tool.

Almost rolled over this little red monster truck just this morning (I'm posting this off to the side of the road right now.) Some kid somewhere must be pretty upset right about now... 😢
