This weekend I was driving and saw a cyclist with a very visible rear light from about a half mile away. I caught up to him and asked him about it; he said it was a "Fire" and warned me that they are not cheap.
I did a search and all I could find was those silly x-Fires with those useless laser lane markers.
Anyone know of any other tail lights with that name..?

Anyways, I use a Cateye Rapid 1 for a helmet taillight. Small, lightweight, USB rechargeable and of significance to me, a small mounting bracket that I could zip tie to the helmet to make it easy to mount and remove. But I use this in conjunction with a either a seatpost or rack mounted light as a supplemental light because it's not bright enough on its own.

I don't know who makes it, but I was riding with a guy doing some early evening mountain biking and he had a helmet mounted rear light that was weighted and on a swivel, so no matter if he was looking up or down, the light stayed horizontal to the ground.

Success! Weighs only 15g, very bright with multiple strobe modes, straps on easily to my helmet, charges via USB, and only cost $15 from REI. I'll report if it malfunctions or presents other disappointments in the future--but so far so good.

How did you attach it to your helmet? Thanks.
