Cold one this morning, -11C/12F with a headwind of 17kmh (and travelling at an average of 15kmh) resulting in a windchill of -22C/-8F and very cold fingertips (the rest of me was fine, I should have worn the mitts I was carrying).

Nevertheless, I had a good ride but with the windchill, I'm glad I didn't take the longer route as I was thinking of doing earlier.

Have a great day people!!

Ha! I had that once last week - driving. The first two lights the little sports car with a loud muffler floored it on the green and I caught him in my minivan at the next red. The on the third one I timed it even better so I didn't have to stop and blew by him just as it turned green. I even missed a turn so I could do this and ended up taking a longer way home.

Fortunately we have big sinks. Completely submerged the pack, washed, rinsed and dried. Time for spring cleaning.
Ugh, squashed banana. Fun.

Nice little tailwind for a part of the ride home yesterday.

Much warmer this morning at 51F vs. yesterday's 33. Shorts without the tights worked fine. High of 70+ today. Great riding weather.

Wow wow wow. My fastest commute ever yesterday! 15.5 miles in 60 minutes flat (usually it takes 70-85 minutes). Hit nearly 40 MPH on the one big hill which is my fastest speed ever, and took the 3rd overall spot on one Strava segment. It was an awesome ride.

33 degrees this morning, steady rain falling, 40 mph cross wind. Had a flat. Temps are supposed to drop, rain is supposed to turn to snow around 10 AM and we're supposed to get about 8 inches by the time to head home.

Remind me again why I decided to ride?

Yeehaw, had one of those myself yesterday. A guy on a recumbent with fairing passed me without pedaling - I'm guessing the fairing was acting like a sail. The problem is the winds haven't died down and this morning sucked. I'll take rain, sleet, snow, ice, etc over strong head/crosswinds. But there will be another fun ride home today!

Was a nice commute this morning with 51F or so. Heard that its going up to 70F so will be in shorts and short sleeve jersey for the ride home. I recently used a Park DAG-2 to realign the rear derailleur hanger on the Orbea bike. Also made a slight adjustment on the high limit screw. Now the shifts are *much* better.

It was not a true commute, but today I rode my old commuting route to meet some former coworker friends for lunch. Snowy and 32F, enjoying the drop-bar Pugsley.

Smiles and snowy eyebrows

It was a nice commute if you do not mind fighting the whole ride. The wind was from the east with gusts up to 20mph. The good thing is if the wind stays in that direction it will take me home!

Bright, almost full moon, high overhead; but no stars. A little hazy. Pretty warm. The peepers were singing again.

It's strange; the winter wasn't really very tough, but some of the roads have just started falling apart this month. Big potholes are opening up daily, and I'm spending my commute trying to memorize them. Good times!

I don't remember ever having to pull off the road for sirens before. I heard them from way off, looked back and could see the flashing blue lights coming from behind. I got off the road into some grass. He turned off just before reaching me, but I waited a bit longer for cars that had pulled off a bit behind me to go on.

51F again this morning, but felt warmer than yesterday. I got warm enough to shed the jacket for the last couple of miles. Then I got cool again but preferred it as the bit of sweat dried out and I felt better going into the office.

Felt as cold as yesterday but was only -6C (21F) instead of -11C (12F) but the headwind was stronger. Forecast for this afternoon/evening is 15-20cm (6-8") snow but with the next few days having highs of 3-5C (37-41F) and sun, the snow should be gone by Tuesday, my next workday.

Happy Easter everyone!

Today was my first bike commute of the week as I haven't been feeling well, probably due to the pollen. Everything is covered in yellow dust here and I'm moderately allergic to tree pollen, so I haven't ridden since last Friday. The pollen levels are still high today but I finally took some allergy medication and decided to go for it. Hopefully I won't end up suffering for it.

We typically get one week each spring when the pollen levels skyrocket, and this seems to be the time. It's about 2-3 weeks earlier than usual but that's consistent with the mild, wet winter weather that we had.

Oppsite of my week, today will make four straight days of strong headwinds on the way home (unless the wind dies down during the day)...I'm already sick and this just makes it worse, was barely moving on some stretches.

Crazy warm this morning! I kept going through patches of warm air, then cold air, like after sunset in the fall, but this was at 5 AM. I got way too hot, had to strip down to my T-shirt when I got on the train.

Same here. 28F this morning... but for some reason it felt even colder. Hands got cold, which is typical for me, but my toes were even cold before I got to work.

I thought I might receive my very first moving violation on a bicycle the other night. Not for something like rolling a stop sign, but for speeding! I was coming down a fairly steep hill, and there was a cop running radar at the bottom. I looked at my speedometer and it read 35mph... in a 25mph zone. I just smiled, kept pedaling and luckily the cop stayed put.

42F and sunny. I seem to have made the seasonal metabolic shift and doing fine w/ shorts and fingerless gloves. Still wearing the raincoat though.

Trying to get back into riding. Rode Wednesday and today but the last day before that was over a month ago. Wednesday was awesome but today was a bit nippy! Hard to get used to temps around here.

If I ever get a speeding ticket on my bicycle, I'm not going to fight it; I'm going to frame it. Heck, I'll probably show up at my court date just to brag!
