We need some rain like that to wash the roads and inject some moisture in the ground: it has been very dry so far and the forecast over the next 14 days is for 2 days with very limited precipitation.

Another beautiful morning. We must be getting some payback for the terrible April weather.

45F, sunny and hardly any wind. I wore shorts and broke out the road bike for today's commute.

Last night I precariously bungeed a jar I picked up at the grocery store on top of my glasses case on my rear rack. I managed to make it without incident for the first 12 km. But, within a 1/2 a block from home, the whole lot came loose and fell off the bike. Had to resort to a plan B for dinner :(

I was grumbling about over-sleeping this morning and my wife asked if I wanted to take the car. Silly question!

Easy ride, raining at first in the parking lot but cleared up in a half mile. That happens too often to be sheer chance, but I'm not certain about why. My theory is local cooling by the creek and wet-lands combined with some kind of topological features affecting the flow of air mass. Or maybe it's a perception thing and seems more personal close to home, but I don't think so.

I thought it was April showers that bring May flowers, why's it still raining? 50F, grey, and more yucky

58F, grey, muggy. Last night was supposed to be pushing 90F and sunny, but the front came early. The temp was there but the stiff headwind made it feel pretty darn brisk and the nasty splattering rainglobs were real attention-getters. Also, there was blinding sun in/around the various storm clouds that were white/fluffy around the edges but black right above me.

Mine wasn't bad, despite my incidents. Once a week, I visit the post office box that my singing ensemble has. I pick up the mail and pass it on to the treasurer at weekly rehearsal. Today, as I often do, I took Citi Bike to the post office and then to the subway, where I continue to work. I ride up 6th Ave from King St (which is essentially -1 St) to 13th st. A guy driving a small truck from (I think) the cable TV company tried to push me out of my lane so he could get in and make a turn. I was in the middle of the lane. I yelled, "Take it easy!" and stuck my arm out, and he backed off. Then he tried it again. I just yelled, "Hey! Take it easy!" He said something, but I didn't hear it. Traffic in front of me making the turn stopped, and he was behind me and slightly to my side, so I stuck my arm out in front of him so I could go into the next lane and go straight. It didn't occur to him to fall in behind me as if I was driving some other slow moving vehicle such as a street sweeper. The parking lane is narrow in that stretch, so there is nothing between the door zone and the travel lane, and I guess he wanted me to ride in the door zone. Lucky I'm experienced at taking a lane and I kept my cool. If it had happened to a less experienced cyclist, it would have been very nerve rattling.

Also, I ran through a red light very cautiously, and as usual, I was careful not to scare any pedestrians, of which there were few. A woman looked at me and got annoyed, and said, "You know, you have a light." She was right, and though I tried to show that I was not going anywhere near her, it wasn't her duty to understand this. As I passed her, I yelled, "I'm sorry!" She turned her head, so I know she heard me. It was my mistake.

My very first commute was last year and all year I commuted on a 700c converted mountain bike with drop bars. Bike serves me well, but apparently the city I commute through has no money to fix potholes. My very first commute this year resulted in a flat from a huge pothole. Got a ride home. Second commute and got another flat from a different pothole. After that I built a 26'er Cruiser single speed with 26x2.125 tires. My commute is mostly flat so I don't need gears. Bicycle commuting is different from my weekend rides and don't even use a computer to log miles. My commutes this year have been much slower, but I don't care.

No matter how crappy my day was at work, everything is forgotten the minute I jump on my bike and head home. This is the beast I build for the poor roads........

Today is was a chilly 44 degrees and cloudy, but by time I left work it was 55 degrees and sunny. Well worth it like every time.

Very nice weather today, no wind, not too hot and not too cold. Even better because its spring and everything starts to get green again:

Yesterday it was raining so hard that I didn't want to leave the house. I did stuff at home, didn't go to work at all.

Today it's raining again, not quite as hard, so I figured I better just deal with it. All the rain gear except the waterproof pants, they make riding too unpleasant. Plastic bags over my shoes.

Got to the station as the train was pulling in. The doors closed as I ran for the train. I was standing by the door when it started moving, but at that momenT the conductor saw me, and actually stopped the train and opened the door for me. Wow. I've never had that happen before.

I'm kinda wet, but at least I'm on the train.

The commute in this morning was a nice uneventful ride with the temp was 44f degrees.

I had an uneventful and pleasant ride this morning. I had packed for rain last night, but awoke to a dry forecast for the ride in. Yay.

Overcast with little drops of rain every couple of seconds or so, I was afraid that it was going to turn into rain but even that cleared up. However, they are predicting thunderstorms this afternoon, a welcome change for us this spring. It also was a nice 7C/45F and I wore my shorts but I partly chickened out by wearing knee length wool socks so most of my legs were covered, just not with tights.

First commute this week due to severe thunderstorms the past two days. Last week, forecasters were talking about us entering drought conditions, and we've had rain almost every day since then. These have been monster storms with hail, high winds and torrential rain. We had golf-ball sized hail at my office on Monday, about the time I would have been riding home if I hadn't driven. I'm pretty sure the drought is over for now, and we are supposed to get more heavy rain on Thursday and Friday. So today might be my only commute of the week. So much for Bike to Work Month.

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!

A little cooler this morning at 55F, but it felt great. The next couple of days are supposed to be cooler overall - nice since it was getting into the 80s.

I've been tempted to do the same - day three of rain, I'm sick of being wet!

My first commute in probably about 2 weeks. I didn't ride in at all last week - The Better Half was out of town at a conference so if I had a ride ending problem, I was pretty well on my own. I could have dealt with that...the bigger issue is one of the roads I use to bypass an unsafe road (4 narrow lanes, broken up by a suicide lane running down the middle and no shoulder) was closed for the week. I was really hoping it was being repaved. No such luck on that front. I did have some plans last week to meet soem friends out, so I drove into the city in the evening and parked in the garage I use for work and brought my singlespeed to get around the city that night.

I was supposed to go for a club ride last night, but I was very tired in the afternoon and by the time I got home I didn't want to do too much of anything. As it happens, we had a severe thunderstorm warning just before I would have had to leave the house anyway. Told myself I would make up for it by getting back in the saddle today. Ended up having a fantastic commute. It's National Bike Month and there are a lot of things happening around town all month long. Tomorrow we have Tour de Taco to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. I think it will be a sub 10 mile ride with 3 or 4 stops for tacos and whatnot. I'll most likely commute tomorrow as well so I can get in some real miles in addition to the easy TdT.

Headwindy this morning.

Beautiful ride in this morning. Finally got to try out a new set of panniers from Frost River and a new Brooks flyer saddle. Both worked out great. A little tweaking on the saddle position and it will be set. Got about a ten minute late start and it was a good thing. The sunrise would have put the sun right down the middle of the road for my first few miles of highway. Fortunately it was just high enough to put it out of the danger zone. Have to adjust my start time for the next week or two. 43F this morning, high is expected to be 57. Get to ride home in shorts!

We've been having July weather for the last few days, reaching to the high 20's C (low 80's F). Crazy. This morning was a nice 10C and no wind, making for a very pleasant ride in shorts and a t-shirt. The afternoon ride home is forecast to be hot and breezy.

As I often do, I forced myself to ride to work today. As always happens, I enjoyed it and thanked myself for it. It still feels like a burden, but the good news is that the feeling is fading. Maybe I'll be able to increase my average number of days riding in.

It was gray and cool and damp and threatening rain this morning. It didn't rain, though it might in the evening. It's not that cold, so I probably won't be uncomfortable if I hit a good amount of rain.

Winds were shifty and not burdensome. I think I'm also getting the hang of riding into headwinds without it annoying me.

My foot pain was minimal. I don't know if I reported it here, but I've discovered -- and had confirmed by a podiatrist -- that my foot pain is caused by a bunion. I don't know how I will treat it. In the meantime, I try to pay careful attention so I notice small levels of pain. I respond by shifting my foot position to prevent worse pain.
