Humid morning with some possible showers coming. Only a few sprinkles found me.

I noticed that my back tire needed replacing yesterday so texted the wife and asked her to pick me up a replacement. She just showed my text to the guy at the store and they rung her up. Put it on last night and rode great this morning.

I drove today because I have to go out of town, so I rode an extra-long commute yesterday. Took the long way home on the greenways, for a 51-mile total commute for the day. The weather was a little iffy with potential afternoon showers in the forecast, but otherwise nice with mild temperatures and a rarely experienced tailwind much of the way. Thunderstorms hit about an hour after I got home, and I'm fortunate not to get caught in them.

Finally, some rain but it was 13C/55F so very mild. Furthermore, the torrential rain last night was light rain when I got up and spray when I started my ride and then nothing about halfway through the ride so other than wet roads, I really can't claim that I was riding in the rain today.

We needed this rain and already the lawns are much greener. The commute was through the smell of earthworms this morning.

Turned out to be a nice finish after a rather dubious start to the week. Rainouts on Monday and Tuesday with forecasts showing rain through Sat, I figured I'd be lucky to get two rides in. Well, a little persistence and a gamble here and there paid off and resulted in three straight nice riding days. The best one being today. Sunny, dry, reasonably cool, light wind. Perfect!

Got caught in a thunderstorm on the way home yesterday and got totally soaked - at least it was warm. Unlike this morning at 50F. As I was riding along with tights, jacket, gloves, etc. and guy rides by wearing shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops. Sorry, but that's just a case of someone out of touch with reality

Around 47F this morning, but the winds were light. Caught up with a fellow commuter that I occasionally see in the mornings. Our paths only coincide for about 2-miles, but it's enough time to have a nice chat and catch up a bit.

38 degrees this morning, and the temp is only supposed to top out at 50.

Rain was in the forecast for the morning, but when I got up it hadn't started yet. Went for a run and then rode to work.

Have to ride across town to a client's office at noon. Sounds like the rain will be here by then and I'll be fighting a 20+ mph headwind. Bummer.

Seemed to be a bunch of meat heads out this morning.. Cooler but was comfortable. Rode the Trek which is alot easier on the 700's!

this morning was about as perfect as it gets: 53 degrees, bright cloudless sunny blue skies, and absolutely no wind. none, zip, nada.

i wish i could bottle it and open one up every morning, but you need the crappy mornings to truly appreciate a morning as glorious as this.

the forecast calls for rain starting sometime in the late afternoon. maybe i'll beat it, maybe i won't. don't matter; it's FRIDAY!

My first bike commute in May! It has rained every day for 14 days in a row and will rain again today, but I just couldn't take it any longer. I had a close call this morning, and while technically the driver of the car was at fault, next time I'm going to play it safe and ride down the middle of the road. This is a dead-end road and the cars are backed into their spaces so all the car has to do is pull head-out. I was riding about 3-4 feet in front of the cars and I had to swerve to avoid getting hit but thankfully the driver hit their brakes. I was just thinking about the guy to my left riding in the middle of the road and now I know why. Even with my headlight and light-colored jacket, the driver either didn't look to his left or saw me and it didn't register. I'm not sweating this - just a lesson learned.

The new 4-way stop @ 10th/Yukon is already a big improvement. A friend of ours is a planner at City of Vancouver and she's just moved over to the 10th Ave bikeway improvement project team :)

Driveways are the worst. People backing out are looking for cars. Bikes just do not register. I think it's because they are looking further down the road---anticipating car speeds---and bikes are just too close.

I cast another vote for 10th Ave sucks.

I was driving down Yukon the day they installed those signs and I said to myself how good of an idea it is since a lot of people use it to bypass the Cambie street 7th to 18th cluster*uck known as traffic management.

After 2 weeks of only riding 1 day each week, I finally got in my usual Tues/Thurs commutes this week. Nothing much to report the whole time, maybe one person doing something dumb but that was it. Nice tailwind Tuesday going home. Thursday, not so much.

Thursday morning (yesterday) I saw what I believe to be the first other person I've seen riding a bike in the morning, ever, in my 3 years of commuting to work. That just shows how rare cycling and especially commuting is, where I live.

But the clusterduck is just up the street from us at the pond in the park. We go there to feed them, until the geese show up.

Awesome commutes since it's finally warmed up enough that I work up a good sweat both ways, helping me to drop some of that extra weight from the winter. Although I attribute that more to moderation than to biking.

It's coming up on my sixth year of commuting to my current job, next month. 1280 round trips so far, 23,000 miles to the same office, and I still find myself explaining it to co-workers. How far is it, how long does it take, how difficult is it with all the cars? At least the VP of Technology doesn't use me as an exhibit on the new hire orientation any more :lol:

The commute was a nice uneventful ride in this morning with the temp at 40f degrees. I was able to ride the longer ride which needed to be done as this afternoon I should have gusting headwinds of 25mph. I will most likely ride the short ride home.

Yup, 42 degrees this morning. What happened? We had been warming up recently. Brisk, but spirited, riding in this morning. It felt pretty good. Two more months until I complete my first full year commuting by bike. Yay.
