It was a cool 52f degrees when I left the house in the dark this morning. The commute was a nice uneventful ride to work.

Uneventful.. cool and little wind. Once a week I'll grab a trash bag and pick up can's along my route.. somehow it ends up crushed 2 bags within 2-3 miles. Due to time restraints typically don't in the morning but decided to this morning. Within 2 miles picked up a full crushed bag and seen another bag after. Don't get alot from it but should get us dinner every month or so. Need to think of a better solution that the bags.. hate to drag my trailer to work though.

Nice 65F and low 60s dew point this morning. Yesterday afternoon's lower humidity and only 85 degrees was not bad at all.

Another cool morning, 60F for me is windbreaker and full finger gloves. A friend rode up to me towards the end of my ride and said, "it's not winter yet!" Funny guy

Ah, harumph! I left my shoes at home once or twice. Sucked and ended up driving back home and taking a "work form home day". Guess I didn't feel like riding look-style pedals in trail shoes or socks. Doable but not terribly plesant...

Was a nice park and ride in today. Started out at 58F but inched up a few degrees when I got into the city. Still wore short sleeve jersey and shorts, but felt a bit chilly in the beginning. Seems like fall has come a bit too early?

Wow. I wonder if the driver steered with his/her feet while using a laptop. Reminds me of another thread in cycling advcacy...

I have a track racing bike with SPD-SL pedals, and I have shoes for those, but I didn't feel like changing pedals, and those shoes are too tight on me.

Nice weather for a ride in, I was feeling the urge to keep going instead of turning in to work.

YEsterday was 59.9 F I was not expecting it but it was so awesome. low 60's this morning.


Ride home yesterday mid 70's it was absolutely glorious! Made the super hot and horrible mountain bike ride on Saturday almost worth it.

like everyone else, cool and dare I say crisp...wore a long sleeve this morning which means I now have to bring a change of clothes for work and for the ride home...should be 85ish when I head back after work.

Pretty sunrise this morning - looking both east and west. Never really found a picture worthy spot though. Looking west was a really tall puffy line of clouds lit up orange. A few miles down the road I realized it was probably packing some rain too. I checked the radar and could see it heading my way. We met less than a mile from my office. It was just light sprinkles though, barely enough to get the streets wet.

Cool streak over, back to normal August temps and possible thunderstorms

on mornings like this, REO Speedwagon's "riding the storm out" is on a constant repeat loop in my mind.

i left about 10 minutes early because i could see some serious business was heading my way on the radar.

i encountered a few pre-storm spits, but i made it to the office before any real rain actually started falling.

it started raining in earnest about 5 minutes after i arrived. leaving 10 minutes early was a very good call!

Warm ride in. Unusual 68 degrees this morning. Only getting to the low 80's so should be a nice ride home. First ride this week, felt good to be back on the bike. Noticed the geese are starting to flock up and fly in small groups.

It was raining pretty good this morning, so I rode the bus (with the bike) to work. Hope the weather cooperates for the commute home.

Not bad. We had a steady stretch of nice weather which allowed me to string several commuting days together. It looks like I should have 300 miles this week, which makes up for the lack of riding earlier this month.

Wild ride home yesterday. I left early for a chiropractor appointment. It was just starting to rain when I got there and within an hour it was pouring, thunderstorms, tornado warnings. I ended up spending almost 2 hours at the doc's office waiting for it to calm down. When I did leave there was spotty flooding. There was one spot on the MUP (and it's a rail-trail so raised up) where the water was so deep it reached over my bottom bracket. This morning it's beautiful, sunny, and muggy.

Original plans were to go out for an extra-long bicycle ride by taking the long way to work this morning.

My son has a golf tournament this morning and needed to be dropped off at a course on the opposite end of the city a little after 7. My wife was going to handle taking him and picking him up afterwards. Right before I went to bed last night she was lamenting about having to get up early. She's a night owl and if she had her preference nothing in the world would start before noon. Anyway, in order to make her a little happier I volunteered to cancel my long ride and take my son to the course, seeing as I was planning to be up anyway. Then she could stay in bed and pick him up later when his tournament is over.

However I didn't want to wreck my streak of riding my bike to work, so I drove all the way across town, dropped my son off, drove all the way home and then hopped on the bike and rode to work. Surprisingly I made it to the office right on time.

Cooler riding in today. The river bottoms were downright cold. Glad I decided to wear long sleeves for the ride in. This afternoon should be breezy but nice temps. Dragging butt this morning after being up late playing hockey last night. Skipping work tomorrow to do a 4 hour kayak trip followed by trying out some trails on my mountain bike.

Muggy riding in this morning, glasses fogged up at every stop. With school back in the extra cars have made several intersections unpleasant. Hot and humid for the ride home. I need to find an alternate route that does not add too many miles.

Same here with the school thing. so much extra traffic right now. Minivans with huge thigh sized left arms showing through the driver's window. So many of them! Most have a cell phone attached to that side of pork.

Just a few sprinkles this morning and since it was raining very little wind. I've wanted a down pour for the last 3 days! I guess that's the key.

Way to score those brownie points. What a nice hubby!

It was a nice break, but we're back to the regularly scheduled humid mornings. I reckon it was still a good ride though.

Crazy!

Approaching a green light I notice a young lady on the cross street. She is zooming along, hanging on to a baby carriage in front, standing on a skateboard. She wasn't looking either right or left. I thought she was going to blow the light.

So I grabbed my brakes. No time to shift down. I manage to almost stop when she sees me and stops herself in the crosswalk. She yells at me to, "Go on!"

So I do. Grumbling because I had to stand on the pedals to get going. :(

I waited until after the rain stopped this morning, but the streets were still really wet. Even with fenders, there was quite a bit of splash from the tires... but it was a nice cool, albeit humid, morning.

There has been some road work along a short section of my route for the last month, although I can usually still get through on a bike. However, I decided to try a slightly different route today and cruised through the west bottoms. Found a new coffee shop... which is always a bonus!

Sore this morning after the 5K Mayor's Run yesterday, still bothered by a sprained ankle. It only hurts when pedaling, which had me second-guessing my selection of the fixed gear this morning. :twitchy:

But it felt pretty good after I got going, and I think was therapeutic to some degree.

Nice. Took a 23 mile extendo-route (vs the 6-7 mile straightest possible route). Riding way out through the county w/ few/no intersections makes it a lot more like a nice bike ride (even though the cars are actually going faster) than an extreme sport. I guess while the cars are going faster they aren't jockeying for position to be first to the next stop light.
