I was supposed to resume my bike commuting today, but...

I took two weeks off from bike commuting to allow a non bicycle injury to my thumb to heal. Today was to be the day of my return, however we had 14 inches of snow in the last 24 hours. This is my first winter with studded snow tires, and I decided three or four inches of fresh snow was my practical limit for commuting. This just adds insult to injury. Or insult to recovery as the case may be. Here is the shed where I keep my bicycles.

Doesn't snow melt quickly in Colorado? That's what I hear. You'll be on the bike soon enough.

My daughter just moved to Denver and is loving it. She walked three miles in the snow to work today and enjoyed the whole thing.

Yep. Been there. Once there's more than about 4 inches down I'll usually break down and drive until the streets are cleared. It's not that I can't ride through more (well, probably not 14 inches) but at a certain point it's faster and less tiring to just walk the bike through that much snow. And I'm not walking 8 miles to work.

We've got over 4 inches down currently and it's still falling steady. They're projecting about 7 inches total. Odds are good that I'm going to drive tomorrow because I doubt they'll have everything plowed out by morning when I leave.

Usually the snow melts quickly. BTW Colorado Springs usually get half of Denver's rain or snow, unless it comes from the south, like this one.

My parents live out that way! They're in Nebraska. My mom joked that my old bike in her garage would fair better in the 15 inches than her Prius lol

I just realized you're in the west village. I have a daughter near Houston and Sullivan.
