NEOS Villager Overboots
Warning, this post for platform riders only. No need for the clipless crowd (of which I am one when I ride my road bike) to chime in on the deficiencies and dangers of riding without feet being anchored to the bike.
We are now in the rainy season here in Minnesota, so I've had numerous wet commutes lately. About a month ago I purchased a pair of NEOS Villager Overboots. Can't speak to durability yet, but these things are great. 45 minutes in a hard rain, riding through puddles=dry feet when I get in to work or arrive home. They're basically a sole with a waterproof nylon shell welded to them. The sole has lips up around the edges, the heel in particular, to hold your shoe in place so it's not slopping around. I ride with a size 10 5.10 Freerider and Large NEOS. Perfect fit. I got them new off Ebay for $30.
This purchase was well worth it, and when I find things that work for me I like to pass along the info.
