Those aren't the "wear against your skin type." They're mountain bike shorts, so they're loose with a loose chamois. You're supposed to wear something under them.

The local bike police sometimes wear spandex. That somewhat strange (but fun watching them question somebody who is trying to keep their eyes from wandering down).

Neither. What, you've never bought clothes at a garage sale or the like? Half my wardrobe at one time was jeans bought for 50 cents each at church rummage sales.

Fine, if YOU want your junk bouncing around while you're mountain biking, feel free to wear nothing under them. I, on the other hand, would like to keep my junk from coming between the saddle and my ass, so I will be wearing liner shorts under them as well.
