Wool Knickers

In the teens this morning so first ride with my new wool knickers. Although a bit of a counter culture fashion statement I can report that they were nice and toasty. At $10 per pair, they are new, made from heavy wool fabric (double layer for the rear), and well made. Sizing runs small.

I have some merino wool over the knee "wader" socks. The set up is so warm that temps over 35 F are almost too hot. 2 pair for $20 (with free shipping) was just too hard to resist.

I bet you look like a hipster with your knickers. I don't consider that to be an insult, though some will.

I think those knickers look pretty cool. But if they run small and are only available in M and L, I'm out for sure!

They're not bad! I wish those knickers were darker to hide future chain stains.

I wear knicker cycling pants -- the synthetic type with chamois pads -- during many of my rides in fall, winter and spring. I've got two pairs, Voler and Louis Garneau. They are great for riding in temps ranging from 30s-50s.

I wear an old worsted wool pair of dress pants that are too worn to wear at work to ride to work some times. They were always a little short and work well for riding. These look like they could be even better.

I got these in October, and the two that I got were fairly substantially different in size. One was slightly too tight in the waist and much too long. The other was close to the right length, maybe an inch or two too long, but much too tight in the waist. I keep meaning to return them (I got an RA# right after receiving them), but haven't had a chance.
