Just received my Loud mini horn

I backed the kick-starter and finally got my Loud mini horn.
I'm overly pleased with myself...and can't stop smiling.
I only used it in the house so far but "wow"...I recommend it.
Here is a link on it.

looks great!

Does one have to join Vimeo to watch?

If so, count me out, but best wishes for your new horn, and hoping you never have to use it in an emergency.

Why...you can't follow the link?

FBinNY 12-31-16 06:48 PM

Of course, I followed the link.

However, problem solved. I block cookies in my regular browser, so I switched to Chrome which I reserve for stuff like this, and it loaded fine.

Unfortunately for grinches like myself, the info age is moving to a single connected world, and I refuse to be assimilated. So far, resistance isn't futile, but it's getting harder.

I've been using the AirZound Airhorn for over 20 years. They're loud, and light, BUT....it only has a single tone. It sounds like a hand held compressed air horn. I have always wanted a duo-tone like a car horn. I would love to see one of these Loud minis in person.

Well if it's any help to you it seems even louder than the video...definitely too loud for the house...lol

How many decibels is this horn? I have a hornet rated at 140db. It's loud indoors but outside doesn't sound so loud.

Says 125db
Ford tries to keep their horns about 94 to 95 db
I don't think there are any issues...it sounds louder than any economy car.

I watched the video and I like the concept. Then I went to the website and checked the price--$149. At first I thought it was too much but when I compare it to my $50 Spur Cycle Bell, then the price seems reasonable.

To the OP, use it for a month then please come back and give us your review.

If this horn is effective, I hope this Kickstarter becomes successful and makes it to the retail bike stores.

I googled successful Kickstarters (those who reach and exceed their fundraising goals). A lot of them don't look like they can really get off the ground.

My beef with the 140db Hornit is 1) the frequency is too high. It would be better if it's the same pitch as a car horn;2) the button to sound the horn is too hard to find with gloves on; 3) too difficult to remove the horn from the mounting bracket. Looks easy when you're in the comfort of your living room but not so easy outside in the cold when you just want to lock up and go;4) it looks as if the mounting bracket is scratching the paint off the handlebar.

Kickstarter is done....You can get it online now....but the exchange rate for us Canadians is brutal right now. It's a pretty penny...got to really want it. I think it could of saved me from many of the near misses I've encountered...so I paid the piper.

One Loud horn for the price of 5 Airzounds? Thanks, pass. It'd have to be 5x better......

As I understand, Airzounds don't work in the cold air.

Just like other hobbies or necessities, you have to set an annual budget to support your cycling lifestyle to determine your wants and needs. It's still cheaper than your annual car expenditures.

An economics lecture, REALLY? Doubt you're old enough to be MY daddy...OR my intellectual superior.

The reputation of Airzound V. cold is relative, not absolute. SMDH

He is just saying it's apples vs oranges.
You can get even more ringy-dingy bells than airzounds,,,but what is the point of saying that.

The concept is good. I have been riding with a moped horn and the LoudBicycle sound is better.

I wonder though how their horn+switch stand up to the weather. My moped horn has been corroding and gunking up with crud and its sound thus deteriorating. My switch is pretty waterproof, but I am not sure about theirs. Putting on and taking off the horn infrastructure for every ride, where one needs to park, is not really practical - this needs to be bolted solid.

PatrickGSR94 01-03-17 11:09 AM

way too much dangerous riding in that video. If he would ride a little bit safer, he probably wouldn't have much need for a horn. I cycle thousands of miles a year, mostly transportation cycling, and really have no use for any sort of horn.

noglider 01-03-17 12:22 PM

Yeah I notice that if I need such a loud horn, I'm doing something wrong. On the other hand, I'm a trained singer and have occasionally surprised people with my shout on the bike, so I'm already equipped, so to speak.

I do the same and my moped horn saved me numerous times from accidents and even more times saved me the time in negotiating the right of the way. If the horn malfunctions for whatever reason I feel in peril until I get it fixed.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe there's an issue with the way you ride?

Maybe you have an issue when people disagree with you...lol

Not really. I would not look for a hole there. Maybe in generalizations?? I ride pretty defensively. A horn is a rational safety measure. At times I yell at the top of my lungs when there is very little time for action and the situation justifies the means. It took me a while to build the yelling into my instincts. It is common for people to instinctively refrain from yelling as belonging to socially unacceptable behavior and remain in complete silence when a car plows into their bike while the driver looks somewhere else. Yelling has a tendency to get to the drivers through noise and music, evidenced by research https://www.theguardian.com/science/2012/oct/17/crying-babies-hard-ignore In any case, different sounds communicate different messages to drivers and pedestrians.

Jazzba 01-03-17 09:26 PM

His statement is ridiculous.
How can he compare his ride to someone else ?
Maybe his commute is 5 minutes same time of day half his time on a bike path.
Try three shifts, three different times of day or night in industrial areas filled with tired factory workers half who learned (learned...yeah right) to drive in a different country.
He is just "Blowing his own Horn" (did you see what I did there ;))
