It's really not that bad. My wife had it Monday and is already almost recovered.

It was another nice cool morning for the park and ride. Its my wife's birthday today, so going to get a card and some wrapping paper for her present. I ordered a necklace from sundancecatalog.com again. Its been a while but I like the jewlery and clothing that they have there for women. Would have also got the small garnet earings to match the necklace but they were out of stock. Note to self to git the card or suffer the wrath of wife. :D

The other day I was riding home and I watched a wasp heading directly for my face.
I put my head down and it went right through a helmet vent and stung me instantly.

I looked strange as I ripped off my helmet and flung it into the bushes.

Our nanny blew out her knee playing basketball on Monday night... she is a short middle aged heavy white lady. So Tuesday I was home with the babies so my wife could go to work. She is a small biz so she doesn't get sick days. Baby twin girl fell out of her high chair on her face just about when mommy needed to leave, so mommy took her to the emergency room instead of going to work. (She's fine, just a nasty bruise.) Yesterday afternoon I was home again, today I'm at the dentist, and tomorrow I'm off. So no more commutes since Monday.

... and I thought yesterday morning was cool for August (10C/50F), this morning, it was 5C/41F and although my legs were fine and I wore a heavier jersey over a regular jersey, my hands were freezing so I took a shorter route (and popped into the bank to make a deposit). I woke up to the sound of my furnace running, we had numerous windows open in the house and the furnace kicked in: I've turned it off, normally I would worry about it as it is only set to go on if the temp is below 15C/59F in the house which I figured wouldn't happen for quite a while.

However, it was a beautiful, sunny, clear morning and would have been a joy to ride had I worn gloves.

Another morning with temps just below 60F and lower than 90% humidity. It's cool enough I can actually just wear my office clothes riding in. I could get used to this. Had a close brush with a sedan as I was moving out of a right turn only lane that made my heart skip a couple of beats. And the gravel patches are building up in the bike lanes again. The commutes home in the even haven't been too bad as of late either.

Wow! That's not fun at all!!

A couple of weekends ago, my brother-in-law and I were riding and deer flies (biting flies) kept getting under his helmet so, for parts of the ride, he rode with it hanging from his handlebars so he could wipe the flies off his head. He and I both sport the same hair style, a Department of Highways hair style. "bare to center bare" (for those who haven't heard the expression before, it relates to winter road reports regarding the snow conditions on the roads).

A nice 67F and low humidity today. Starting to feel like September. I left about 10 minutes early and decide to take a slightly longer route out my neighborhood. But once I got to pedaling I remembered - rather was reminded by the noise - that my chain needed some lube. So I circled back to the house, did that, then went on my normal way. 16 miles in one hour in the very comfortable weather.

Happy Friday!

How could one complain with 66F and low hunidity? Not me. :) I decided to ride all the way in today. Perfect weather and Friday is a light traffic day. I shelved the Michelin Pro4 Service Course tires for now. They just don't have enough (or any) flat protection. Should try the Endurance next time. I think that's their model with the protection.

It's finally cooled off and the humidity dropped! 67 when I left the house this morning. Definitely makes a difference 'cause I set a personal best time getting to work! May have to celebrate by stopping for a cold one on the way home! :D

50 this morning, so first time since May I wore the headband around the ears. Won't be long before I'll be hanging out in the Winter forum...

Another brilliant, cool morning. I didn't waste any time (well, not much) riding to work as I had an early meeting, but it sure was tempting to blow off work and keep riding. 60F is just about the perfect temperature to ride a bike, and with the normal low traffic on a Friday and missing the school traffic, I just wanted to ride.

It's been a rather strange summer; I don't think we've hit 100F yet. Of course, now that I wrote that, it'll be 100 every day in September. I think we're well above average as far as rainfall, but most of it hasn't interfered with commuting -- it either started at 6:00 and rained late into the night, or rained early in the afternoon and stopped by quitting time. Having jinxed myself so badly already, I didn't have a flat this month. (Yet.)

groovestew 08-25-17 09:24 AM

Chilly and breezy this morning. Still a few degrees warmer than jrickards commute, and I wore gloves :) .

On the way home yesterday, I was descending into the river valley on a winding MUP with a few blind corners and I always temper my speed accordingly. Partway down, I met an older gentleman walking his bike up the hill, and he said to me, "All clear ahead, nobody coming up behind me!", and I thought to myself - out loud - "How would you know?" Sure enough, there was someone coming up the hill behind him.

I left work early yesterday due to darkening skies and the forecast of a severe thunderstorm. Made it home just as the wind was picking up and the first drops of rain were falling. Had to dodge a few puddles (and what was left of a rabbit) on the way in today.

Lazy duck

Literally. Surprised by a little rain this morning; motivated me to one of my fastest times for this particular route. Loved the dramatic sky.

A very pleasant uneventful but cool commute this am with the temp at 50f degrees when I left the house. Due to leaving a few minutes later than I have been I took a shorter ride today. Hopefully I can make up for it on the ride home.

JDinTulsa 08-28-17 07:17 AM

Mid-60's and clear this morning. Good ride in to work today! The lower temps make the hills seem less of a chore!

Amitoj 08-28-17 07:33 AM

Back to work today after more than a week off. Still not commuting on bike though. Although most of the road rashes have healed, there is still some discomfort around the upper chest/neck/shoulder area. Waiting for it to go away as well in the next couple of days. Hoping to get on the bike sometime later this week.

mgw4jc 08-28-17 07:36 AM

A very nice, cool ride this morning - almost long sleeve shirt worthy. But not for me as it is still August. The humidity was so low I didn't even get sweaty. About 63F and dew point of only 60F.

locolobo13 08-28-17 07:52 AM

Hey all you with your frozen tundra temps in the 50s. It's a nice balmy 90 here! :)

groovestew 08-28-17 08:49 AM

Cool, clear, calm, uneventful.

arsprod 08-28-17 08:52 AM

I was going to complain about rain and wet conditions but seems gratuitous compared to what south Texas is getting.

HardyWeinberg 08-28-17 09:07 AM
