It's been nice this week. So cool in the morning that I've been wearing long pants, first time since May. Even in the afternoon, it's been cool enough that long pants were comfortable. But winter is coming... when I get home the sun is already low in the sky. Yesterday:

I was so zoned out this morning that I stopped to show my work badge to the ranger lady at the Nimbus toll booth.

I explored two spurs on the ride home that are supposed to connect in the middle. Northbound it got too steep for me to climb, southbound it looked passable. But God it was hot and I decided to just cruise on surface streets for the last third of the ride. I'll try it next week and then that will give me another alternate MTB path to take to work.

It's been nice here, but warm again the last few days.

My poor wife promised our son she'd take him to Vancouver for the Pacific National Exhibition, a big fair. They had a blast but were tired and exhausted.

Anywho I hope those of you in and around Houston are doing okay; I'm thinking of you the sci guy.

joeyduck do you know if they use the World Fair grounds? I was there in 1986 at age 9, we drove from Phoenix and then on to Denali

Yes that's where they are. My wife was there in 86 as well, she had very fond memories of it; she was there for her birthday.

These days it's unseasonably hot in San Francisco. Like 95. Which to us feels like 130.

So... sweaty.

A very nice commute this morning with the temp in the low 50f's . I left the house just a few minutes early and was able to take a little longer ride. There was hardly any cars on the roads this morning, everyday should be like this.

Perfect weather today really, just perfect for a few kilometers of commuting. Too bad some careless drivers made it unenjoyable...

Another nice commute to work today with the temp at 65f degrees this morning. I scared a woman walking by saying "good morning". She did not have ear phones on and before I said hi, she had been looking back so I thought she saw me. Anyway I did apologize for scaring her.

Back in the saddle, finally! My first commute since my crash on 17th. How the weather has changed! It was quite dark when I started from home.

Friday afternoon had a series of storms and heavy downpours (Harvey remnants). But there was a good break and I rode home. But as I was getting close to home I could see some really dark clouds ahead and feel the temperature dropping and the air felt like rain was coming. I picked up the pace for the last couple of miles and beat it.

I transferred as much grease from by bike to my hands as I could yesterday. It rides quiet and nice again.

I know Fall is almost 3 weeks away but sure feels like it's here already. A cool 62F, windy, and leaves are already falling

Chilly (7C/45F), clear and calm. Covered my ears, arms, and hands this morning. Still in shorts.

Thanks to all the dry weather we've had, I'm on a nice little streak - 18 consecutive bike commute days. I'm still a few shy of Tundra_Man and wphamilton's streaks, but for me that's pretty good. It may all come to an end tomorrow, with after school activities starting for the kids and I'm part of the schlepping crew.

This morning it was warm enough that I'm back in shorts again, which is nice.

Not many stars this morning, but the moon, very near the horizon by the time I got to the station, was beautiful.

I'm signed up for a 200k brevet on the coming Saturday, and I have been thinking I'll ride my fixie for that; so I rode it this morning, trying out my battery lights. It was good. I'm faster on the fixie than on other bikes.

50°F this morning and windy. I wore long sleeves and a headband to cover my ears. I thought construction on the MUP was going to start today which would result in a detour, but as of this morning there were no signs of activity.

Nice day for a ride, this morning at least. Slight overcast with high clouds, doesn't look at all like the 70-80% chance of rain the weatherman has been flogging.

Ok, I've been bad about posting my commutes lately but have been commuting daily to work, with the exception of last Friday for inclement weather.

But then there was this morning. Weather called for 70ish degrees Fahrenheit and a 30% of rain for the day (keep rain poncho in bag, basically). Well about 2 minutes into the ride I get hit with a thunderstorm. I took an extra 10 minutes on the ride (35 minutes rather than 25 minutes) so I could go a bit extra slow as I don't currently have a front light on the bike. The emergency poncho lets a bit too much rain through and doesn't do squat to keep my rear wheel skunk stripe from happening (I really need fenders). Needless to say I arrived at work in full drowned rat mode.

Today was my first commute to work where I was a little chilled at first. This would be nice if it stay like this for a while.

Upper 50's this morning, if it keeps it up time to add a layer! At 2k for the year. Wanting to hit 3k but probably won't make it, too much to do at home and with class.

Windy on the way back! And not in my favor either.

Last night for the ride home was low 70's Fahrenheit with very little humidity but I did have a headwind working against me.

Nice 65F for this morning's ride with overcast skies and rain on the way sometime this morning.

I had an overly cautious truck passing yesterday. He stayed back longer than necessary, and then when he did pass, he wasn't going much faster than me and then a car from the opposite direction started coming. He was going to slow back down and get behind me but I preferred he go on by, so I slowed down and waived him over. He could have easily accelerated past me, but wouldn't for some reason.

I need to print out the 3' passing law and leave it on a few neighbors' vehicles. Got passed way too closely in a tight spot (school bus parked in the other lane) coming out of my apartment complex this morning.
