Saddle sores
My commute is 19 miles each way. I was suffering through near constant saddle sores. I was wearing a clean bib in the morning and wearing the same bib home in the evening.
I finally broke down and bought more bibs so I can wear clean bibs on the way home. And, no more saddle sores. It's so nice to ride without that pain. Hope this helps someone else!

An easy way to always wear clean shorts without a lot of expense or hassle (that I did for years with a 12 mi commute): Buy enough UnderAmour jockey-briefs so you can wear a clean pair inside your cycling shorts for each ride. Cost $19. Throw them in with any wash. They last for years. Your cycling shorts will then stay clean for several rides, see fewer washes and last longer.

i would see what happens on a 38 mile ride.
i mean, maybe your workmates are 'cooking' your shorts in an incubator, or something, while you're working.

It's good that you found a solution, but the problem indicates you might need to improve your hygiene. When I take a shower, I ... uh ... clean in a way you wouldn't want me to describe online.

A good saddle can also help. There are lots of people riding centuries without changing bibs or their chamois shorts. Glad you found a solution for your "sit"uation but you may also want to look at different saddle. You may need to sample several saddles before finding the correct one. You will need to get your sit bones measured which a good bicycle shop should be able to help and even offer saddles to test ride.

I was already wearing the Champion boxer/briefs anyway, usually just the underwear and baggy shorts for most rides up to 40 miles in relatively cool weather. With temps and humidity rising now the padded shorts with a liner are more comfortable.
I got the idea for wearing them as a protective liner from a manufacturer of padded cycling shorts -- they mentioned on their website that some cyclists prefer a skin tight thin liner between their skin and padded shorts. Gave it a try. Works great.
