Hey, do let us know how you like 'em. Those look about right for my first clipless pedals that can also be ridden with regular shoes. I haven't ridden with toe clips in 30 years and don't want to spend much on clipless until I'm sure I'll get along with foot retention again. Mostly I'm satisfied with platforms for my hybrids, but I can see the advantage to clipless for getting the most from my road bike.

Maybe not upscale enough, but I've got the basic plastic nubby pedals on two bikes, and am quite happy with them. I'm guessing all of the brands come from the same factory, possibly the same mold:

My bum ticker makes me want/need very smooth ball bearings from the word go.

PD-T400's arrived today. Seems like they'd be ok for a little ways in regular shoes but the latch definitely sticks up.

A pound and some change. Only the vaguest tread on the back end - clearly the surround is there to stabilize the shoe on the latch and not as a platform pedal

Bump with news. I installed these on my MTB, not my commuter, for starters. Their action is very light. The plastic platform provides some good support that seems like it would be less comfortable if the platform were aluminum. I like them. But they're definitely still full time SPD's. I might buy another pair if the sale is still on.
edit: sale over! You can find them for $30 at Merlin today, though.
