Does anyone know of a city bus system that has a really good map system of their routes? I'm thinking Google Earth drive through type of thing. Maybe a YouTube video of the various routes.
Any cities have something like this?

Most city bus systems have route maps. You may have to call their HQ to get one, as most bus riders are regulars who know almost instinctively that if you miss the 5:05, the next one is supposed to arrive at their stop at 5:17.

Google maps has a "Transit" option you can select when getting directions (also a "Bicycle" option).

It works OK here in Sacramento, but how realistic it is in reflecting the real world often depends on user feedback.
So initially the bicycle option was not 100% reliable, and would choose routes that were not really there.

I've not used it much for the buses and public transportation function, but once you have the route, you can select street views.

I would like to provide exact routes to people. Where exactly does the bus go, through a parking lot, for instance. What turns does it make?
It would be helpful to the elderly and people in wheelchairs.
I'm wondering if some city had a high tech computer simulation of their system.
It could also be used to train drivers.

Most public transit systems publish maps of their bus routes online. Keep in mind, most buses can only stop at posted bus stops, so it is not exactly helpful to know that a bus comes down a certain road, unless you know where along that road it stops.

Also, no one uses a bus "map" any longer. Most decent cities have them live online with GPS to a mobile phone.

Many cities in the US have simply shared their transit information with Google Maps. For example, I live in Louisville, KY so I simply type in where I want to go to Google maps, ask for directions and I can select from driving, transit, cycling, or walking directions. That's the easiest way to do things. If I wanted to take a few additional steps I could go to the website for the city bus service https://www.ridetarc.org/system-map once I've figured out the route then I need to look at the route's schedule: https://www.ridetarc.org/maps-schedule From there I can determine what I need to do to get where I'm going. Most cities with public transportation systems have similar methods setup. However, in the US not every city has public transportation.

The agency I work for is set up with the RouteShout 2.0 app available at the Google play store (freebee)
If your tansit agency is on the list it will give you schedules ETA for your bus and you can even track the actual bus you are waiting for on a map with your phone.

Marseille do have this (oldes and second largest city of france).

A passenger had an app that told him when the St Louis Metro train would arrive. It might have been that RouteShout 2.0. I'll look that up. Thanks.

Use google maps go to button, use current location and type in your destination with the public transportation mode selected. The guide tells you where and how far to walk, tells you when the next train or bus is scheduled, tells you if the bus or train is early or late and tells you what connections/transfer to take.

You can even put in the time you want to arrive at your destination, so that you know when you have to leave to be on time.
