Oh yeah, there's a good source for practical cycling info. I'll check with them right after I get some stock tips down at the trailer park.

I don't have anything to add to this thread, nor do I understand what a backpack ever did to KD5NRH
Thanks sweeks for the info on the light though. I may pick one of those up for my commuter.

Apparently there is a new Fashion Sheriff in town!

Now considering that mountain biking has been responsible for about 90% of all the innovation that has occurred in bicycling in the last 30+ years, I think I'd take my clues from the trailer trash mountain bikers than just about anywhere else.

On the other hand, Camelbaks were invented by a roadie for a road event. Mountain bikers, as with most things bicycle, recognized their utility and, frankly, their brilliance, early on. They are a whole lot easier to drink out of than trying to fish a water bottle out of a cage on a rocky descent...if the water bottle even stays in the cage.

For this winter's dark winter rides home, I've got my backpack wearing my Noxgear360 vest, over a Sugoi "Zap" pack cover. Getting lots of positive comments about the visibility of this combo. The pack cover also has the benefit of being a waterproof material that has kept my pack completely dry in extreme downpours.

I hate having to tote an extra 10 pounds on my 22 mile commute to work. But it's the best way to carry laptop. The bonus, though is that I have room for spare inner tube and extra clothing, etc. It does seem weird when I bike on the weekend without the backpack; it feels like I am forgetting something when I walk out the door!

I am not interesting in putting a rack on my CF road bike.

I have gotten used to sweaty back.

This thread is missing the "no real biker uses a Camelbak hydration pack" :-)

Just duct tape a couple of milk crates on. Think of them as being constructed of a carbon fiber like substance without the added weight of the carbon fiber itself.
