19 miles round trip. I’m trying to find a route that would make it a little longer.
|
not sure if I answered this one before but 11 miles one way. 22 or so roundtrip unless I have some time to add a little on. Like this morning was 13.6. lately I have been adding miles on. I try to ride everyday I can. Wife asked me to pick up something so I drove yesterday. :(

I commute one day per week, 62 miles and roughly 4 hours round trip. The route has 4000' of climbing and I will generally ride in dry weather over 32F. Yesterday was 36F with snowflakes on way home (bizarre after our 85F Saturday).
We moved offices last year which added 2 miles, but it provided showers which are so wonderful to remove the crust, be it sweat or road grime. Roads start rural with a CAT4 climb, then I join the traffic flow on a 2 sometimes 4 lane road where drivers are mostly respectful. It is a commute that I need to psych myself up for the night before, but I am pretty goal oriented as I strive to get 100 miles in per week to be healthy in mind and body and sometimes the commute is the only way I can squeeze that in, plus 4 hours on bike is so much better than 2 hours in the car. The good news is I can work from home three days a week so it provides variety as well. I tend to hang out in the Classic Vintage forum, but need to spend more time here as I found my bike performance related to commuting needs work. Getting the legs to recover for the ride home has been the biggest challenge. Winter commuting adds a few pounds to the bike with added clothes both on and in the trunk bag and lbs on me from winter gluttony, so that is a factor. I am looking to mix this up with perhaps 2 commutes and driving to make the riding distance a bit more reasonable at 30 round trip as some days are naturally harder than others. |
7.5 flat miles each way, about 40 min.; now the weather's nicer I've resumed going both ways (my other ride is a bus). When I get my legs back, I'll throw in the longer ride home on occasion, about 11 rolling, scenic miles.

My commute is 18 miles round trip. 45 minutes each way in the summer, 60 minutes in the winter (studs are damn slow).

Hey Everyone,
On average how many miles do you commute? I average in between 12-14 miles for my total commute. Just curious Ya need to use the poll feature for a question about this. I'm 25 miles round trip - or more if its a nice day... |
25 miles round trip. The return is about a mile longer as I take a safer traffic route home.
|
Just stopped working this job, but my commute for 2 years was 18miles round trip loosing then gaining 400ft. Now that I'm off for a bit I try to do at least 10miles a day. I don't have car and the closest grocery store, or any store is a 12 mile round trip loosing and gaining 400ft. Keeps me fit!

Average: 4 miles each way. Standard deviation: Zero. ;)
|
50 miles
|
I commute a whopping 1.4 miles each way on flat city streets. :thumb: I have to take my bike up a parking ramp elevator and keep it in a locked bike closet in our building, which adds a few minutes. So it usually takes me about 12 minutes door to door.
My wife has it even easier. A 1-mile ride each way that takes, depending on one stop light, about 7 minutes. |
I've got an EXHAUSTING 3 miles each way. It's downhill into the city! But I usually hit the climbing gym after work, sometimes take a ride at lunch, get groceries... I do wish my commute were longer. It's the best part of my day.

19 round trip. Sometimes 25 in the winter because I have to take an alternate route. I frankly never stretch it out with three kids and a very tired mom waiting at home. Going into my eleventh year commuting and this is my longest but I don't have to stop too much so It doesn't take much longer.
|
25 miles for me, 5 days a week, rain or shine. Snow is when I stop.
|
30 miles, uphill both ways and always a headwind. |
62km round trip. End up commuting a little over 220 days/yr.
|
10 miles for me (one way). With a mix of dense trafic, good road and bumpy tarmac.
|
My bike commute is 30 miles, round trip. It's really a bit too much for me, so I try to break it up, riding in one day and riding home the next. If I get in 90 commuting miles in a week, I'm feeling pretty good about it.
|
Home to the train station is 3 miles each way. Since my house and the station are on opposite sides of a river valley, it's uphill both ways. But also downhill both ways. And it's Illinois, so not THAT uphill or downhill. Tens of feet in gain.
Then when I get downtown I have a little over a mile to my office, for which I use bike share (no bikes allowed on rush hour trains). Short distances, but I also generally do it in work clothes as there are no changing facilities at work other than the restroom. |
17.5 miles one way, with ~875 feet of climbing.
My goal is to commute on bike at least 3 days a week, so that I get my 100 miles for the week. |

Now that my commute is only 6.5 miles each way, I love it more than ever. I've had longer commutes, and I've had shorter. This is best. I can take the subway when the weather gets foul, but lately, I don't. I'm fine with riding in the rain or cold, because it's less annoying than taking the subway. And I get exercise and fresh air (well, fresh for NYC) and nice scenery. Yesterday there was a huge thunderstorm, so I brought extra clothes in case I got drenched. I went out in it after it had subsided but not stopped. I only got a little wet. It's so much better than sitting still.

About 24 miles round trip. A large chunk of that is bike paths, which is great. Some riding next to cars, but not too bad. It is hilly, but that provides some variety:)
|
33 miles round trip, with 900 feet of climbing each way. School should be out soon which will help as i ride thru a couple large high school zones. About 2.5 miles of it is on MUP, the rest with traffic, though speed limit is mostly 30-35 mph. Its always a wet mess when i get to work. I am lucky to get in two commutes a week with kids and weather. I need to get fenders for my Raleigh and solve the rain dilemma.
