Foam grips: smooth or rough?

I'm about to order a Jones H Bar (Loop, SG), and instead of paying $24 for Jones brand foam grips, I'm gonna order off eBay.

I'm seeing two options: 'smooth' and 'rough' in terms of the finish. The Jones-brand ones appear to be smooth.

Any recommendations on finish, in terms of grip, sweat, wear&tear, etc? At least half the time I won't be wearing gloves, and I'll be doing trail-riding too.

My personal preference would be rough, but once again, that is personal preference. Either one will be comfortable. As far as wear and tear, I doubt one will wear better than the other, but any small tears or scuffs will not be as noticeable on the rough finish.
