My Commuter/all rounder
I just wanted to post a picture of my bike because I like it a lot but no one around me gives a rip.
It's a 2013 CAADx frame from 2013 that I got with it's original wheels, crankset, and rear mech. I tried to keep the build simple because I like simple builds.

I don't mind hoods, but I hate braking with road levers. I dance around a fair amount in heavy traffic so I like to be able to brake from the tops. I do hasty medium length road rides on the weekends (100k-120k) and love hunkering down to the front of the drops for those. I could see myself gutting out some hoods and using those for a longer tour or something, but as of now I don't feel the need.

You could always get stoker levers. Much more control at the widest part of the bars.
