Surly 8 Pack rack —> Kona sutra LTD?

Hey all,

Has anyone mounted the Surly 8 pack rack (front shelf rack) successfully on a fork that doesn’t have the crown top side eyelits (as on Surly forks)...?

I have a Kona Sutra LTD I’m trying to use for commuting/touring and would love to add a lighter weight (i.e., not a full porteur pizza rack-style platform) front rack to support a rando bag, and the Surly (IMO) is one of the better looking/durable ones I’ve found.

Pros: aesthetics, durability, CroMo
Cons: If not mounted in the “surly-recommended way” - ? durability/carrying capacity, difficult to “jury-rig”....

Has anyone done this?

Just curious!

Thanks!

Blackburn Local Basket

Costs less, aluminum, very versatile mounting to lower or mid point brazeons, fork crown, or even brake studs.

Soma Porteur Rack w/ optional fence is another option....

That's pretty cool looking, mount front or rear. And that slot and rubber strap for your U lock is a sweet feature
