Bikes: 2020 Pivot Vault, 1983 Rossin Record, Garneau R1, Mesamods home built gravel/rain commuter bike, 1995 Barracuda A2V modified with Surley single speed dropouts, 1969 Bottecchia junkyard special fixed gear, Cervelo P4, Mesamods 650b klunker

If you need something durable and bright, this 1300 cree LED light is pretty easy to acquire and just plain works. I'm starting my second season on it with no issues...

I've taken to using my headlight and taillight whenever I'm moving, even in the day. This past week on my way home in the evening, I noticed my headlight lighting up the surface. Yup, the days have gotten shorter.

When I wasn't looking, USB recharging has come to cheap high-power cree led flashlights.

For example this.

And still a standard 18650 battery, not a proprietary, non-replaceable battery pack inside. I would assume the batteries inlcuded with that pair of lights are essentially worthless, but good 18650s can be bought for $5-10 each.

I got my new headlight, a KDLIKTER BL2s from Kaidomain, with accessory kit. Total about $40 for a 2-element light, big battery, enough cord between them to put it anywhere on the bike or person, charger, battery strap, and a thing that could be either a head lamp or helmet mount.

I might be using it in twilight by the middle of October but not in earnest til DST.
