I like that really light rain that doesn't even get the pavement very wet but cools off the air, it's kind of like riding by a sprinkler.

My Halo headband is very helpful for exactly this thing, but the amount of salt runoff can be overwhelming in a rainstorm. That is why I like my rain jacket hood pulled over my head - reduces the sweat runoff substantially.

I never get to ride in the rain in Phoenix-metro. Chose to leave early today so I could ride in the rain and use my new fenders. Felt wonderful.

Rains comes in a variety of sizes, shapes, and temperatures. Try riding in a southeastern thunderstorm where wind driven mega drops pelt you in the face like a handful of needles and I assure you it will be described as anything but fun.

This. Texas/Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama/Tennessee/Kentucky/Georgia/Florida/Hawaii rain--often really, really bad. And dangerous.

Washington/Oregon rain--usually piecea cake.

Ha, ha. I know. I spent decades riding in Texas rain and floods. Still, it beat riding in Gulf Coast humidity...

The next time you go riding in the rain, record the event. That way we can viciously enjoy the fun with you.
When I lived on the east coast, I got caught in the rain every day. Now that I live on the west coast, I never get wet. I miss it...not missing it.

Nice mug of hot chocolate always worked for me after a ride in the rain.

I'd like to outfit my bikes in ways that minimize the effects of rain. A non-coaster-brake "dutch bike" type of component array on a "hybrid bike" would be nice. I don't know how to obtain something like that in the USA though. Dynamo lighting. Internally-geared hub. Braking that avoids the water. The bikes by Workcycles cost a lot and aren't really the type of frame geometry that I'd want (there are too many hills where I am). So what can I do for this preference?

Other aspects to mention for this bike:
I said "hybrid bike", meaning bikes that fit the industry category of this name. I would go with any common wheel diameter that's bigger than 24" though. And bar-end or downtube shifter would be fine for me.
I think I'd prefer a cro-mo frame/fork, rather than aluminum or hi-tensile steel.

What riding in the rain means to me. Minus the lightning and thunder overhead.

Getting caught in the rain sucks at first until you just realise that you can't change it, so just enjoy it.

The enjoyment of the rain soaked through to my underwear or the squishiness in my shoes of each power stroke or next step I take? Your resolve in this matter is significantly more advanced than mine. I've been caught in torrents many times, and enjoyment would be the last feeling that came to my mind.

That said, there have been instances where walking or riding home (with the proper rain gear) where a light drizzle with periodic drops has evoked a kind of dreamy quiescence. As long as its a warm atmosphere and I'm not wet and cold.

We get this kind of gentle mist here in the Oregon/Washington area fairly often and it really is delightful. Kinda feels good on my face when I am working hard. But a torrential downpour in Nevis or Houston? Thunder? Lightning? Tornado? Please don't sign me up.

I rode out to the bike coop on Monday evening. It was drizzling lightly, and I was perfectly comfortable. When it came time to go home, the rain had become fairly heavy. I don't remember the temperature, maybe 45ºF (7ºC). My hands got a little wet, my feet got fairly wet, and my thighs got wettest of all. I wore a nice warm hat and a good jacket. Overall, it was mostly unfun, but it wasn't hell. Not being able to see well was one of the worst things. I wear a mirror on my glasses. My glasses got too water-covered, so I took them off, leaving me mirrorless. My prescription is mild, so being glassesless isn't the worst thing.

I'm going to try to put a soap film on my glasses to see if that helps in the rain. If it doesn't, I'll buy some Rain-X and see if that helps.
