Custom Commuter build
Hello everyone,
I’m new to the forum and I need some guidance. I used to ride mtb bikes, however as I relocated to Amsterdam I need a city/commuter bike. As there is nothing equipped as I wanted I decided to build a custom one & here I need some advices.
- the frame I want something similar to cube editor or lekker Amsterdam elite (Aluminium preferably). Any suggestions what to buy?
- I wanted to be belt driven so I’m thinking shimano Alfine 11s + DI2 shift switch will do the job
- for brakes everything disk break works ( shimano or magura)
- no idea about wheels + the rest of components yet
as the frame is my starting point please help me with some advices here
thank you

There are a few similar suggestions (except Di2) in this thread.
However, since you moved to Amsterdam, let me ask you a few questions:
However, since you moved to Amsterdam, let me ask you a few questions:
- Where did you live before?
- How far is your commute?
- How sad would you be if this bike was stolen?
- Will you be using a separate bike for when you want to go into the city?
- How often do you plan on recharging the Di2 batteries?

I lived in Singapore and San Jose before
8km is my commute one way.
I will be very sad...however I'm relying on having private underground parking @ work and @ home
for the city probably. my wife does not bike due to a recent surgery...she might never bike
as far as i understand the DI2 batteries hold about 2-3 months
Thank you for replying. i'm considering all factors you mentioned
