I was pleasantly surprised in the different reactions of drivers between yesterday's commute and todays commute.

I wear my jerseys at work and although we have a relaxed dress code I don't like the jerseys that shout out Here's a bike freak/ or a teenager.

Yesterday I wore a moab jersey: brown, blue and white. Except for the zipper front, small logo, and back pockets, you wouldn't know immediately it was a bike jersey.

Today I'm wearing a hind red/white jersey.

Same route, about same time, probably similar drivers. Today the drivers acted differently:

1. on 2 lane road, they drove
1.1 with 2 inches of the dividing line
1.2 on the dividing line
1.3 over the dividing line
-- I estimate I had a least one foot of extra clearance as they passed

2. at stops,
2.1 they waited longer for proceeding
2.2 they yield right of way faster.

Talk about rewarding riders for wearing the right clothes. I didn't have this reaction even when wearing yellow or neon green.

Anyone else have similar experiences, or is my experience this morning atypical?

Tomorrow try wearing a jersey that says, "Police" on the back.

You can work on Saturday, I have better plans.

If you really want attention, put a "Police" helmet cover on you helmet.
Would get attention, but real local Police might have a little issue.
