Rack Security

I purhcased the Topeak quick release rack for my Topeak trunk bag (with panniers and water bottle holder). It is awesome and meets the exact storage needs for my commute.

Question: with the rack being a quick release, would you recommend taking the rack off when going into the gym, store, etc? Or, is it okay by itself? For my arrival at the office, I can bring it right into my office. It is only at short stops to the gym or store I am concerned with.

Thanks

Get a small cable or a seat saver cable, route it through the seat and when you lock it up lock rear wheel, seat and rack all at the same time. (You can also thread the cable through a helmet.)

i have the same rack, different bag (smaller version, no bottle holder) and because of how tight i had to crank it down to keep it from shifting when i lean my bike i have few concerns about it getting snaked (it takes a hammer to get it off, and if somebody's carrying around a hammer to steal my rack tehy're welcome to it). that being said...there is a great place right at the front where the bag clips on to run a cable through it, if you are going to be leaving it out where someone could walk by and grab it.

Unless you are parking in a high crime area, I would not worry about someone stealing your rack.
