Go Big or Go Home...
...So I'll be going home, after biking to work today on my newest bike, a 1989 Dahon Getaway V, 16-inch 5-speed folder.

It's a little slow, (avg speed 10.5 mph due to low gearing) so imminent upgrades include swapping the 14/28 gear set for an 11/something. WIth a 52 upfront and tiny 16-inch wheels, 28 is already low enough for hills. I'll add fenders to replace the original, cracked ones, which I removed. And I'll add a front caliper brake to help the rear drum, which is surprisingly adequate, although I'd feel better with rear calipers also.
Also a different style airhorn from my usual AirZound may work better with the way this folds.
It's stiffer and more stable than any other old-style Dahon 16" folder I have tried.
Still, it was a blast on the ride in, and for just $50 plus $20 to make a DIY brace latch, it is a true bargain.

Wheels look like 16 or 18. You certain 14". I hope not. Replacing 14" wheels in the US is near impossible.
