Bikes: yes, I have one.

Insurance companies are a bunch of greedy, cowardly, vicious wankjob goons. I've also been confounded by their stupid rules and stipulations and weird little clauses. I got totally hosed. I was double insured and neither was valid. What a load of pus monkey snot burglars.

Sorry again for your loss. Once you're in the mood and have the money, at least you'll have the joy of scoping your new ride.

Yup. I should have been more aware of that but of course I wasn't. And it was a seperate cable.

Guess I'll go bike hunting this week end. I was going to pout and just drive but after seeing this, I'll get over it and find a bike. Thanks again for all the support! I'm overwhelmed and surprised. This forum is awesome!

Glad you've decided to get a new bike. And geeze, those gas prices are insane. I'd rather take bus than get a car right now.

Well I spent the week end out giving local bike shops pics of my stolen bike. I was at one shop talking with one of the counters guys when he ask ed if I was looking for another bike. I told him yes but I couldn't afford anything nice or new really. Turns out he had a hybrid he just cleaned up and and put all new running gear on. Anyway I picked this up for $150.00. Not really my style but it beats driving every damn place and seemed like a deal. Thanks for all the support everyone!!!!

Specialized Crossroads.
It's taking some time to get used to the heads up style this bike has but the 700c x 25c seems to be pretty fast.

I think they did a really cool job with the lines of that bike. Take a look.
Congrats. Enjoy your new bike.

Enough about the bike. Who's that in the center photo on the table in your original pic of the bike?

Thanks Everyone. I didn't think I would have a bike this quickly as well. I really shouldn't have blown the money but I did anyway. Now I just feel a tad embarrassed about whining so much. lol. I did a 15 mile ride when I shot the pics. It needs a new seat and at least toe clips right off the bat and as Jur pointed out, a new lock or three.

Wouldn't it be great if the police would try something like Bait Car (https://www.baitcar.com), except on bikes? I mean they can hide a GPS device that transmits to the police in the frame or something, and with enough saturation of these bikes, a bike thief will likely try to steal one of these. Bait cars have proven to lower car theft, it could easily lower bike theft too.

Hah! You see? I knew you'd be back. Seriously, nice to see you got a new bike that you could afford so quickly. Lokks pretty nice for $150! I hope you have better luck hanging onto this one!

Okay Quickbeam you get all the "I told you so's" you want. You were ALL totally right. I think I just needed to vent and pout. I picked up a new lock for it as well, I think it's an ON GUARD. Anyone know if this is worth a damn? I'll pop a pick of it up and also the changes to the bike.

Thanks again for all the support everyone.

Wait, doesn't Kryptonite have a warranty thing where they pay you the replacement value of the bicycle in case it gets stolen?

Bikes: I own a diamond back. Other than that I have no idea.

I was just going to ask about something like that. Good to know that you can insure a bike. Would I just go to my State Farm Insurance?

Why? I use my U lock on the front and frame, then the chain on my rear and frame. The rear wheel is already hard enough to release, so why leave the easier front less defended?

No worries. Your jacked-bike was probably set up exactly the way you liked it. Give this bike a chance to win you over.

Congrats. Enjoy your new bike.

Looking at those pictures, I realized that one small shift in balance and that guy's bike would have been at the bottom of the lake.
Congrats on finding a new ride, Bob.

I'm glad you've decided to continue commuting. Just remember there are always plenty of bikes in the sea. (As was pointed out is close to happening to that tricked out Crossroads)

And since more than one person has asked:

A little forum stalking answers the question "Who's that in the center photo?"

Actually, I'd say those prices are almost high enough to BE sane. A bit higher and they might get a few cars off the road, and cause auto makers to start designing more efficient cars. (Though seeing how much smokers will pay for crappy cigarettes, maybe thats wishful thinking)
