Hi
Has anybody biked with a doggie in a basket? How do we do this? How do we stabilize the dog so it does not fall off? Any web sites for the basket and/or harnessess, leashes?? Thanks Chanel |
Must be close to the record for a zombie thread reboot (2005 to 2024). The recent rise in the rate of new posters reviving ancient threads probably reflects AI improvements in search algorithms.

I'll jump in on the necro-post!
How we do this with our active, 70-pound Labrador retriever:
|
I tried many different options before I finally found one that my dog and me LOVE  It's from a company called Kvisp and they launched a new bike carrier for dogs just last year.
My dog Valery loved it from the first ride. The design of the seat is perfect and it mounts/unmounts with just one click which allows me to remove it when riding without her. Also it's got a safety harness and straps included. Unfortunately I can't post photo's here yet, but if you search for "Kvisp reviews" you can see a photo of her on their website. |

Donny brings little Sally along in a dog-specific basket with a drawstring top and plenty of blankets inside; she could totally pull her head in and curl up, but she prefers to ride with her head out, chillin'. I don't remember the brand but I can find out if there's any interest.

I see dogs riding in a front mounted basket - rear basket - trailer - next to the rider (on recumbent) - and perched on the riders shoulders
a couple of times I’ve seen a bike rider with dog on his shoulders and another dog in a basket … went by so quickly in the opposite direction could have been two dogs in the basket … ? … can’t recall the riders that have the dogs on their shoulders are wearing a backpack or similar which apparently provides a spot for the dog to place hind legs / rear one of my favs is a senior bike rider that pulls his dog in a trailer … during holiday weekends etc the dog is often in appropriate wear - including stars and stripes, pilots mask with goggles, etc |

I take my dog to the dog park with my Brompton. I can attach a basket to the front, he’s a Jack Russell, so its big enough. He has enough sense that he doesn’t try to jump out. I take him for a walk before going anywhere with him on the bike, he behaves better.
