Gearhead here... "NOS" is also Nitrous Oxide Systems...a company that makes nitorus injection systems for engines. We can thank Hollywood and Vin Diesel for this "car's got NOS" garbage.

I like the pic, but just wanted to throw my $0.02 in - and to clarify a bit. Maybe I'll get one less person to say "cars got NOS"

NOS is a company that makes equipment. Nitrous oxide is what is sprayed into your engine to make your car 'go faster'. Anyway, don't mind me...just being a car geek. Nevermind.

Maybe he really is just a big pu$$y.

Maybe a racing sticker and rev your grips at stoplights.
Wear a fullface helmet cycling in the city.

Oh and a clear tubing to run from the 'NOS' can into your 'carburetor'.

In psychiatric diagnosis, NOS means "not otherwise specified."

As in, "Psychotic disorder, not otherwise specified."

If the shoe fits. . . .

NOS is not garbage. It's the biggest bang for the buck upgrade for any car. I've been in Honda Civics with a wet shot of 100HP. Let's just say WOW!

uhh...wrong. I'm not going to go into the economics of installing a nitrous system and NO2 tanks vs. something like a turbo, or even an engine swap, but you are wrong.

Also, read the post more carefully. He called Vin Diesel's "Car's got NOS" statement garbage, not NOS.

NOS= New Old Stock, of course.

What makes me wonder, is that it might be a 20 year old can of Pepsi, pulled from some old warehouse and relabled for resale.

YUMMY!!!

Not saying a (properly set up) nitrous system is garbage. I was just saying that this saying of "my car's got NOS" is garbage. It's a sad sad little saying that stuck because they used it in a movie....and it's wrong. That's all I was getting at. I've ridden in/driven my fair share of hooked up tuners and old school bigblock straightliners, and for the money and time nitrous is worth it. I'd still pick a supercharger over any of 'em though.

20 year old pepsi? could be good.

So ... let me get this straight. The rash was caused by the improper adjustment of NOS fuel mixture resulting in a burst of uncontrollable acceleration?

Nah, single best upgrade for a car would be if the car ha a speed/rev limiter, to gut it.

Most mustangs have one around 115....gutting it will get your average 5.0GT up to around 130mph on the track, a cobra more like 140. Three cheers for govt nerfs.

My old 2.3 n/a project had to hav it's gutted since it's governed around 95mph....sucked haveing to drop 500 on a reprogram (I don't trust store bought "chips")....at least I played around with the rest of the settings a bit...especially where I removed "limp mode"...that was really nice...the 4-bangers would go into this mode if it detected anything out of wack, whether it really was or not....actually limp mode was extremely dangerous since the car hadd an 0-60 of 50 seconds (no joke)...it wasn't fast enough to even use on the road....runners could outrun it from a stop.

Yeah NOS is nice for a dragstrip upgrade. Also a quick way to be left with a cracked block. IMO the single best upgrade for a track driver is LSD.
