DIY: Make wool gloves stickier and grippier?
Anyone have any suggestions for how to make nice soft wool gloves have stickier and more grippy palms and fingers, like those with the "dots" on them? Like I didn't get ones with dots but I'd like to. I could buy silicone at hardware store, I guess, but was wondering if anyone had suggestions instead.

You could try Plasticoat
https://www.g-plasticoat.com/
Or putting Shoe Goo or Goop on the palms and fingers.

Disclaimer-I haven't tried this, so it's not CR's fault if you mess up a good pair of gloves.

I tried something similar with Plastidip, although the gloves were kevlar. I painted a thin layer on the fingers and the palm and it worked pretty well.
If you're going to try this, I would advise making sure there aren't any globs or pointy shapes because you'll feel them.

why don't regular wool gloves provide enough grip? i ride with my wool liners occasionally and never feel like i am slipping off my bars.
i'd be afraid to ruin the gloves treating them.... just buy some cheap ones with dots and save these for when your not riding and need some nice warm gloves.

Look at that Plastidip link, they offer a product called "Super Grip". It is a non-skid fabric coating. It might be just what you are looking for.

A great idea but not necessary for me. I found a cheap pair of rag gloves with sticky dots at Safeway. $2.99 plus tax.

The local hardware store here has good quality wool gloves with rubber gripper dots on the palm and fingers. They are $12.99 per pair. The pair I bought has so far have lasted 2 winters and now going into a 3rd...
Have you checked the local hardware or work clothing stores?
