A few more ruminations arising from today's commute, which was my first in 1.5 weeks while I nursed a sore knee.

** It's truly amazing the amount of <gross> snot </gross> you can generate on brisk mornings.
** After taking some time off you alter your routine changes a little, for the better. It's good to take some time off every so often.
** Also, your fitness level does decrease noticably after a week and change, though it builds back up almost overnight.
** Bike-commuting really does allow you time to ruminate.

Bikes: Torelli - Trek 520 - GT - and some old Schwinn Thing

I know I can beat this bus to my turnoff. Its only a few miles.

Doh, its getting ahead of me, and it caught that green light. You win this time, oh wait, I'm going to catch the green, this bus is mine!

Made the pass, now to keep the lead.

There's my turn, and the bus is nowhere to be seen. Another victory for me.

I wonder if the people in that bus know they can get to where they are going much faster if they just rode their bikes instead of waiting for the bus to take them the 2 miles to school.

Commuting ruminations:

I can't believe I hit that pothole again. Every rainy day...
Mind reading the passing motorist:
Another homeless guy. We better make a law.
I bet he is cold
I bet he is hot
I bet he had a dui and lost his licence
He looks like he could afford a car
He should get a job
That dog is on one of those extending leshes. Looks long enough to make it accross the road.
I bet they believe walking in the middle of the road is not as hard on feet as the concrete.

"Winter Wonderland" ruminations:

Why does every vehicle with a stuck choke have to drive by me?

I hope the next driver that goes around me doesn't get his tires into the slushpile down the centre of the road.

Those poor people waiting for the bus look like they're freezing to death!!

** There is no better feeling than a hot shower after a chilly commute.
** Road construction signs are worse than the construction itself since they're invariably placed smack in the middle of the bike lane.

What is up with little old ladies in huge a$$ "land yachts" that drive by within 2 inches of your handlebars?

Had one almost bump me today. She's lucky I didn't catch up to her at the next light... I was in the mood to give her a "what fer".
