GT Nomad Sport

Greetings everyone!

Does anyone have any experience with the GT Nomad Sport as a commuter bike? The LBS here has a few and I just wanted to see what the experienced folks here think of this bike. I'm in the market for my first commuter (I previously owned a MTB for several years).

By the way, I'm a complete newb. I've been trying to build up the nerve and take the plunge and start commuting via bicycle to work. The commute would be 5.7 miles each way, 5 days a week.

Thanks!

I have the regular Nomad. I haven't had it long but am pleased thus far.One reason I bought it is that it has full braze-ons. Somerthing the other bikes in this price range did not have. Be careful about size. they seem to run large to me.

First week you will find a bit difficult. second week you will enjoy it. Third week you will be loving it and wondering why you ever drove.

Its also live in an urban area because most times its not that slower to ride instead of driving, and I live in Newcastle Aus. I wish i lived in Manhattan to carve through all that traffic, damn it would be fun.

Just out of curiousity, do you have fenders on your Nomad? I looked at the bike and later wondered if regular fenders would fit it. This could just be my inexperience talking, but it looked like fenders would have a hard time fitting on this bike with the limited clearance between the tire and frame / fork.

Thanks!
