First day this year I had to drive the car

Ripped my front wheel apart yesterday. My LBS has a new kid as a mechanic. I guess my wheel build he did for me 2 weeks ago wasnt quite up to par

When I pick it up later today, wether he charges me or not will determine if he continues to be my LBS or i go looking for a new one.

7 out of 10 possible commuting days so far this month. had to take the mother-in-law to the doctor two of those days so had a sick day and drove the other. It's getting warm around here and still dry as can be. going up to 60F today, when last year this time we were knee deep in snow. Wind supposed to gust up to 35-50mph today so that will make an either really fast or painfully slow ride home!

11/11 32/32 - done for the week. Taking the kids to Henry Ford Museum and the IMAX on their day off tomorrow.

31*F and raining this morning, supposed to be 50 and thunderstorms this afternoon. Plus I have to go and give blood after work, then ride 5 miles home from there. WOOHOO! hardcore!

morning folks.
a balmy -28c/-41c windchill this morning.
i love it!! finally some cold weather.
nice quick ride this morning. snow was hardpacked and fast. the air had a hazy fogginess to it. the cool air amplified the crunchy sound of my tires.

i think i'm 10/12 for the month. i'll keep better track in the March Challenge.

keep safe.

-24C/-35C windchill

straight into the wind for my little 5km jaunt. definately a 'challenge', every stroke was a battle, there was no room for coasting because the wind would have sent me rolling backwards. as much as it was cold/windy/crappy, it feels great. this commute was one of the highs that overshadows the lows (ie, almost getting run down yesterday).

11/11 for february. 100% on the year.

Good ride this morning - too warm for Feb and too windy for any time of year, but I made it in decent time. Amazed at how good my frame of mind is when I get to the office on the days I ride!!!

3/4 for the month...

I met my challenge, more or less. We got a beautiful day so I was trying out a new folder. Being unfamiliar with the bike, instead of the full 24 mi route with several huge hills I did a flatter 14 mile bike-train-bike route. I'm still counting it, because quite frankly I didn't think I was going to ride in until mid-March.

Now to make it two rides this month.

LOL

Yes all commuting, 50 km a day door to door. Lots here do way more than me though.
Doesnt include summer rides, weekends, centuries, etc.

Oh and my best friends wife after watching me drop 35 lbs in 4 months has recently bought a bike and all the gear to commute. So now I get to do some winter evening and weekend rides as I coach/teach her the ropes

-32c/-45c windchill today.
rode into the wind today. the little bit of exposed skin around my nose, between my goggles, got a little cold. i wore big leather mitts today instead of gloves.
i like biking on days like this. makes me feel alive and "rugged." i love winter!!

So I didn't come to work on Tuesday and Wednesday and yesterday I drove (due to illness, although nothing related to biking in the cold!). Needless to say, I really wanted to ride in today and make it 2/3 for the week. When I started the ride, the temp was -8F with a windchill in the -30s F. When I arrived at work it was down to -11F and -40F windchill.

The only real problem I had today was that I added a scarf around my head, which kept my face really warm...except it also fogged up my goggles which promptly iced over. Riding half of the ride without goggles was not fun.

Now that I'm at work, everyone that sees my bike makes sure to tell me how crazy and unsafe I am. I love it.

-28C/-37C Windchill. My new coldest commute temperature (was -27C from last year).

So i'm standing around the coffee room with some co-workers when someone calls in saying his truck started but his clutch is stuck and his girlfriends car has a flat so he won't be coming in. "That's funny, my bike started up on the first pedal.". I thought I was real clever until it dawned on me that he gets to sit in his boxers and play video games all day, and I'm at work.

An absolutely frigid ... okay, a downright balmy, +30 F this morning when I left the house, except that it felt FRIGID compared with the 80F I rode home in Thursday. But I made it in, I can now feel my feet (currently ride in running shoes and toeclips, and didn't even think about at least wearing warm socks this morning), and I'm downright energized!

4/5 for the month...

9/11 24/28 Had some vacation days, so my commuting days is down to 16 total. I did get my "official" February century in on Friday. It was in the low 50s with a bit of misting rain but it felt pretty warm to me. I missed the big snow storm here, but this morning there was still plenty of snow on the road due to drifting. Temp this morning was 8 F (-13C) with a nice headwind the whole way to work.

10/12 25/29 Today was a bit warmer at 15 F and the wind was fairly calm. Saw a guy from swimming as I rode and he waved at me. Roads are clear but streets still have quite a bit of hard-pack. Still on the hybrid. Looking forward to a few more days when I can get back on my road-commuter. I'm still not sure how to handle my appointment on Thursday. I'm thinking I might be able to steal my wife's car for the appt. That way I can still ride into work.

-4c i think, calm.

i'm coming down a hill (it's about 3 blocks long) doing about 40-45kmh in a 50 zone. i'm to the right of center in the right lane, cars are parked to my right and the sand on the side of the road comes up to my nuts. car catches up to me on the downhill and beeps his horn twice, i don't know what he expected me to do, I had no where to go, and the opposing lane was clear, he could have gone around. anyways, he blasts past me as soon as the road widens. i pass him 4 blocks up the street as he's trying to find a space to park in a gas station. i thought to myself, "he sure got to the gas station fast, i'd be in the store before him if i pulled in."
