I'm 33 just and been commuting for 18 months solid. Just wish I'd started earlier as I'm feeling better than I ever have. Stopped smoking 6 months ago so that helps a lot.

56, although now that I don't have a job I guess I can't claim to be a commuter any more. Hopefully that will change soon.

I guess I'm in my 40s, because I don't exactly know my age off hand. Seems to be a trend here. I was born in 61, so that makes me 44 or 45 maybe. Do really have to calculate it? Honestly, I didn't see a math requirement when I registered for this site. There was really no need to count anymore after 18; but that depeneded in which state you lived in then. I think it was the year after me that it was 21 for everyone no matter which state. Damn, it's all so hazy. I guess I really am in my 40s.

I've been commuting for 2 years now. Ever since I slipped on that patch of black ice when taking out the trash. Biking was the only way I could sit down with out intense pain. Once my tailbone healed, I never went back to the car. Okay, I wet back a couple of times. Just driving isn't as fun. Sure it's easier, but it's just isn't fun.

Anybody gonna calculate the average of all these responses? I'd do it, but honestly, I'm too lazy. Maybe later.

Average so far is 38 years of age. Not bad! Can't tell how many male or female but I'm guessing most of you are men.

I think what's interesting is the average age. The ages are pretty well evenly split all over the spectrum. Just about as many over 40 as under 40.

I was under the impression that the majority of riders were not only male, but in their teens and twenties, thinning out in the thirties.

I'll have to check some info I have when I get home. I know I have a gif that shows collisions between cars and cyclists by age, and there's a huge number of collisions between cyclists ages 10 to 35, then a big drop and comparatively few collisions with cyclists ages 35 and up. I always attributed it to the fact that there were twice as many younger cyclists than older cyclists. Maybe it's just that the cyclists who are not commuters are younger and get into accidents far more often than the regular commuter cyclists.

- By the way, I'm (just about) 46 -
