Chicago Loop - gyms with permanent lockers
I am trying to find somewhere to rent a permanent locker (to keep a suit or two, shoes, toiletries) and shower (with towel service). So far, I have only found a convenient but expensive ($200/mon) health club (Equinox on Monroe) and the Millennium Park Bike Station which has a great price ($200/yr) but is too far from my office (1 mile). Dressing up and working downtown makes bike commuting more complicated.
I hope someone else on the forum has figured this out! Thanks for any advice!

I'll assume that walking into work in bike clothes is unacceptable to your employer. What about ariving in casual (non-bike) clothing and changing in your office/rest room? If so, you could pack a lightweight nylon shirt and pants and slip them on before arriving at your building.
What about using public transit to get from the Bike Station to your workplace?

The person I spoke with at the Bike Station said people had to show my commitment to communitng 5 days/week in order to get invited to rent one of the permanent lockers. It is a Catch-22, but I will try asking again. I cannot commute unless I have the locker!
Thanks.

I have solved the problem three ways. In Oklahoma City I got a membership at the YMCA a block away from my job with Kerr- McGee. More of a problem with summer sweat there rather than snow. In Southern Cal I worked a deal with the owner of a non-chain service station to use his tiolet a block from my Xerox job. For some temp jobs I have stopped around a corner from the job and just pulled the shirt, jacket, and trousers on over the shorts and white jersey and/or t-shirt. Walk in to the office, go to a handicap stall in the mens room, and re-dress.
