So I went to Performance with the intention of getting a cheap cyclocomputer, and a $50 wireless computer was on sale for $20...great! The box said "there's a possibility of interference from other electronic devices" but I didn't think too much of it.

Well, there are entire blocks of San Francisco where the interference is pretty severe. SBC Park with it's free WiFi is one, as are several others. Also the range is only 24" so I can't mount the transmitter on my rear wheel where I originally wanted it.

So are there any wireless computers that aren't so suceptible to interference and can be rear wheel mounted? If not I'm willing to go for a cheap wired computer so long as it's not obnoxious with wires everywhere.

I don't want to spend much, maybe $30 tops.

Wired computers just don't work in a city. I've gone wired with the wires neatly wraped around the fork. They are almost unnoticable.

I'm quite fond of VDO computers. They have a very simple and intutive menu.

Yeah...looks like I might sell off the wireless on eBay or something. Luckily it's only like 3 weeks old so it's basically new, won't lose much value.

Is the wire on those VDO computers long enough for a back wheel mount? I have a carbon aero fork so I don't really like mounting things on it if I can avoid it.

I have order the Planet Bike Protege 8.0. It goes for 16.99 and mounts on the front wheel. But like Ziemas said. You really can't see the wire if you run it right. I have a Bell right now and people had ask what that wieght is on the spokes. Once I point out it's the mag for the Bell then there see the wire.
