Dallas Wind Tonight

MMach or anyone else ride in that mess tonight. It was a complete beating.

I know threads like these pop up pretty often but this was the first time I've had to deal with some really bad winds. I've had a few other windy days but today was the worst. I checked a few sites online and it seems the winds are sustained between 25 and 35mph and gusting up to 45 or 50mph. It didn't help the wind was against me or on my side about 90% of my ride home.

Hope everyone else made it home safely tonight.

Dallas winded too

Only had to do 9 miles homeward but it was mostly all westbound into that wind. Flag poles in front of banks were bent in arcs. "Uphill" the whole way!

If it didn't kill you, you are stronger. Since you survived to post, you are officially alive and stronger than the day before.

Dind not ride in it, but my wife and I took our 5 year old out for dinner and a movie and we passed a commuter barely making headway against the stuff. The force of the winds, gusts into the upper 30s, plus all the dust and pollen and debris it was carrying was incredible. Supposed to do the RBM ride in the morning, hope it lays down a bit before then.

Good to see all these folks from DFW. Didn't know so many were on bikeforums.

jsharr, where about did you pass this fellow commuter? I commute from Las Colinas(work) to North Dallas(home). It might have been me.

bearof46, I see you just joined up. Welcome if you are new to the boards. Where about do you live/commute. I am in North Dallas as posted above. There is a fellow MMach who commutes I believe from the Garland/Richardson area up into Plano or Mckinney who is on the boards alot. rat factory is in Arlington but not sure where he commutes to. There are probably plenty others who do not post often like myself.

Yep, I was riding in it.
Luckily, I didn't have to ride against it. The side wind from Allen to Plano was pretty impressive.
I was meeting my wife at Mockingbird and Central Ewy, so I jumped on the train at Parker rd.

It's almost 3:00am, now and the wind is still whipping around out there.
I drove by RBM, on the way home from my soccer game, in Lewisville. I was very surprised to see there were still guys working up there, at such an ungodly hour. Is this because they are getting ready for the ride, tomorrow?

On Custer Road at 190 between Richardson and Plano. Was it you, if so, I almost stopped and offered you a ride, but I was in a loaner car without the bike rack.

Ahh. Not quite me then. I live right at Preston and 190 so that is as far as I make it. I met a guy the other day who owns no car, rides from Richardson to North Dallas about 10 miles. He rode a Specialized full-sus mountain bike. He can trackstand forever it seems and I had to work up the hills to keep up with him for the little we rode together. I think his name was Jeff. I always wonder if the few people I have passed are on here but never see them long enough to ask.

heh. I don't mind headwinds. It's the side winds that kill because they whiplash me into other lanes so quickly. And with Houston traffic that spells disaster even more so then before.

Bikes: Trek, Centurion, Kuwahara coming soon

I had to ride against it for most of my commute home. The ride home took 9 minutes longer than the ride to work.
