Cycling underwear

We dress very casually at work and I wear Docker shorts and t-shirt 8-9 months of the year. In the warmer months I go commando (no, this isn't that kind of thread) because the A/C is kept at 78F (25-26C), sometimes higher.
Anyway, I often go out for lunch or to downtown or midtown for a "Share the Road" or Effective Cycling presentation. I don't change into my cycling clothes for short trips (< 4 miles) like this. I'm supposed to look like a "professional" (wearing shorts???) when I do these presentations.
On really warm days, my "bottom" gets a little damp when I'm riding to/from these meetings and I worry/wonder if the moisture is getting my shorts wet.
My question is, will the type of underwear in the following links keep me dry? I don't care about padding on short trips. My saddle has enough padding.

Ron, I often ride home for lunch in my business clothes and I find that the boxers my wife bought for me work quite well. They’re made by Croft and Barrow and are available at Kohls. They’re made of some kind of stretchy synthetic they wick ok and most importantly don’t bunch.

Yeah, probably those'll do ya.

I wear Capilene boxers when I MTB, and they keep me pretty dry.

My experience with wicking underwear is with backpacking, and it does work.

Unless you are wearing a kilt, commando is just wrong if you are, um, creating any kind of moisture. You'll get more bacteria growing on your shorts than in the deli counter at Price Choppers.

If you are going to be riding a bike, why not wear proper bike underwear - not stuff with padding, but stuff that wont ride up and introduce your boys to the world.

The link is to a Runners' shop, but I'm sure you can get these anywhere where sports stuff is sold. And yes, the cost is Canadian. Last I checked, one US dollar is about 56 bucks Canadian.

I would think your bottom would be drier ,

But your dockers might get a tad more damp as the moisture gets pulled away from your skin and into the outer layer of clothing (dockers) .

Thanks bikebuddha. Kohls is my kinda store - low prices.
I'll check them out this weekend.

The only time there's moisture is when I'm outside riding and it's usually in the middle of the day.
I wear bibs and jersey when riding to and from work.

Wally's world sells Starter brand low/no sweat athletic shorts that I use as underwear. Goes down to your thighs. It is just like UnderArmor but costs only $12.

In the winter I wear two pair, other times just one. Love it.

Bikes: A few.

I commute in mostly non-cycling garb. As such I'm biking while wearing unerwear. I've got the Wickers boxer briefs from Sierra and they do the job pretty damn well.

Lately, I've been wearing Nike Pro compression shorts under my street clothes while cycling. $25 at Sportmart.

Wear stripper-style tear-away bike shorts on the way to your presentation. That way you can quickly rip off the sweat-moistened layer without having to take off your pants.

(kidding)

Maybe you could just pull your T-shirt down real far, to cover the butt-sweat during professional presos.

Or wear only bike shorts on the way to the preso and get them as sweaty as you want, then at your destination, put on the dry Dockers over the sweaty shorts for that professional patina.

I'm all out of ideas.

The UnderwearNazi only shows up when talking about wearing cotton underwear under bike shorts.
I'm asking about synthetic shorts/underwear under Dockers.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll be headed to Kohls, Wally-world , and the Sports Authority tomorrow.

Being a member of the Natural Fibers cult, I like my silk boxer briefs. No seam in the wrong spot, minimum friction issues, and they dissipate moisture quickly. BTW, I commute in khakis or equivalent.
