Need Rack but no eyelets on frame

Do not want seatpost mounted bag. This is for schlepping binders books etc to and from work.

Are there racks designed to clamp onto seatstays without eyelets? I've thought about using rubberized clips, but would need to find them.

If the frame happens to have "traditional" forged steel dropouts with triangular holes, then you might try hitting up older bike shops for some Blackburn Custom Eyelets. There must be some out there still. If you like the sound of this, but need a visual aid to show them what they're scrounging for, I can take photos of mine for you.

Wait, or here's a pic:

from https://www.allterraincycles.co.uk/pr...php?pid=105042 The threaded aluminum part goes into the dropout's triangular cutout on the inboard side, and the black washer goes on the outboard side, and then the rack's "foot", and then the bolt. I'd use bolts that take a 4mm or 5mm hex key instead of that 3mm one, you want to get these pretty snug.

Go to your local hardware store, ask for P-clips.

+1

Get p-clips that will fit over your seat stays just above the dropout, and some 1/2" long nut bolt combos and locking washers that fit through the p-clip and rack to mount. To protect the finish on your frame, ask for tool dip and dunk the p-clips in it (except the holes). With tool dip, keep in mind that you might size the p-clip a bit larger.

clamps

You could always use insulated clamps found at any Home Depot or Lowes. I found these at Lowes in with the electrical connector stuff. You'd have to look around, since it might not always be in the same location.

I just had to trim the bottom rubber off the clamp so it wouldn't rub my cables.

Go to Products>Packs & Racks>Tubus and scroll down. They have a little bracket (Tubus QR adapter) that fits on your dropouts that will allow a rack to attach. It's held on by the skewer.

Blackburn, being narrow-minded and lame, has never been able to design something like that. But I did have a Vetta rack a long time ago that did the trick. Maybe they still exist and still have something available. But I'm too lazy to do the checking for you.

I had a seatpost-mounted rack on my last beater, but it would have worked better on a bike with a sloping top tube and long seat post. You can see that it's pretty high under the seat. It can supposedly hold 25 lbs.
