Best ride of the year.
Just moments ago, on my ride home from work it began to pour. Pour. I've never been caught in a rain like this but I was already soaked (except, of course, for the things in my airtight Chrome) so stopping under a bridge seemed pointless. I pushed on through the rivers in the streets and the pellets of rain against my skin. The whole ride I had the biggest ***** eating grin on my face. There were a couple of times that I was laughing out loud!! I literally haven't had that much fun on a bike since I was a little kid. Just wanted to share.
p.s. My average speed was a couple miles per hour faster. Is the fun factor the cause?

Riding in the rain always makes me feel like a little kid.
Didn't you love splashing in puddles? Like going fast? Like doing stuff you're not "supposed" to do? That others can't or won't do? Riding your bike in the rain's got it all.

When it rains hard, there's one particular place in the mall parking lot road I ride through where a huge puddle forms. Maybe 4-5 inches deep in the middle, probably 20' in diameter. I've begun calling it "Preposterous Puddle", after an episode of Mouse and Mole, a British cartoon that my children (and their parents) like. Whenever it's there, I like to say "`ello, Preposterous" in a British accent and lift my feet up while riding through it at full speed.
