Bicycle Commute Act bill thing...

Does anybody know whatever happened to the Bicycle Commuters Act bill thing that came up a couple months ago? It was supposed to give employers a tax incentive or something so they could give something to bicycle commuters and somehow we were going to end up with some extra cash in the paycheck or something? Anyone? Bueller?

I received this earlier this week in response to an e-mail urging my Senator to support this bill:

Dear Mr. McLaughlin:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Bicycle Commuter Act. I appreciate hearing from you.

The Bicycle Commuter Act would extend transportation fringe tax benefits to bicycle commuters. In this era of high gasoline prices, I believe we all have the ability to cut down on our consumption of petroleum products. This legislation is currently under consideration by the Senate Committee on Finance, which takes care of all tax issues. However, please rest assured that if this or similar legislation reaches the Senate floor I will be sure to keep your views in mind.

Thank you again for contacting me.

Sincerely,

Ken Salazar
United States Senator

Yeah, yeah, I know. *shrugs* Kind of makes you realize that they're all human, huh?

Actually... I think this was one where I basically flipped a coin... I couldn't tell who would be better. *shrugs* I really don't remember which one I voted for!

I guess that's a drawback to being independent, you actually have to THINK about who you're going to vote for instead of going straight Democrat or Republican

But... this isn't P&R, it's commuting.... so. How was YOUR commute?
